Considering we have Riley Knight and Rory Atkins as a result of the Kurt saga, I have faith that whatever the club ends up doing, it will work out. The key will be keeping players from here on and maybe recruiting a big name over the next couple years.
On another note, why the hell did Connors say Adelaide should accept the compo pick? I really can't understand the good about that, maybe he's just dumb and says dumb things, but on a serious note, if Adelaide were in a 50/50 position and then a Player Manager who is working directly against them comes out and says to take the compo pick, how would that ever sway Adelaide's decision? Does he really, honestly believe that someone at the club will go "He's right, guys, we need to just accept the compo pick and move on"? The far more obvious path would be "Screw you player manager, who the hell do you think you are coming in here messing with our business and then having the nerve to council us?" And then straight to matching the contract.
These Victorians are only saying this because they are banking on us not willing to risk losing Danger for nothing as if we have no cards in our hand. The reason their saying this is because they are incapable of empathizing with an Adelaide supporter. They haven't spent the time understanding our position and thus can't believe that we would be willing to let Danger slide as a statement to all other Restricted Free Agents that it's called "RESTRICTED" for a reason.
Maybe we need to let the club know that we, as supporters, are happy with the club taking the risk to lose Patty for nothing and understand the consequences involved in taking that path. Since Victorians are incapable of understand our position, maybe we need to make it a little damn more clear of how we actually F$%#ing feel and that this emotion we've been holding, 5 years in the making, will this time play a part in how we go about things.
