Hey guys, i come in peace.

I find this whole situation very interesting.

firstly i must admit i havent read through all your pages, so sorry in advance if this has been answered.

Is there anything to read into with regards to the press conference by you guys and Danger only really stating that he is seeking to come back Victoria. There hasnt been any mention of Geelong (or any other club) at all by him or you guys.

is there a reason this might be witheld at this point in time or do you guys believe its a case of Danger has said he wants to go back to Victoria, his ideal club of choice is Geelong, but if they don't present the right offer to compensate you guys, that he is happy to go to another Vic based club if the offer is better for the crows?
By all reports, Geelong is where he wants to go, but after/if Crows match he will be a uncontracted player at the trade table. If Geelong/Crows fail to get a deal done, I've heard one and rumoured another (if not more) Victorian clubs are happy to offer Danger a good deal and happy to trade well with the Crows.

Look something I have believed from time obvious Danger was not staying that his no1 goal is to get to Melbourne which includes Geelong for greater media opportunities now and after football with the going home only a small part of and of course is a great spin which all have to agree both Paddy and manager are both good at.
This was basically confirmed by Roo this morning on radio saying there was just not the go home factor as the reason for Danger wanting to go back to Victoria. And of course as Roo admitted he has been Dangers mentor ever since arriving at Crows , so you would think that would have some idea along with a coffee meet a couple of weeks ago.
We have had us as Crows supporters our intelligence insulted in so many ways over this issue which some of because of rules had to occur.
But with another key player leaving our club our reputation has received a bit of damaging but think how much this will hurt the Geelong club if they get too smart and stuff up this huge player addition by trying to be too smug and cocky.
Because i firmly believe that Danger will accept another offer to get to Victoria and also not see the club who has looked after him so well is not shafted.
And the Crows have to be tough on this one as they are already seen as being too easy in player movement and taking players from.
Anybody thinks that Danger would not accept a offer from a good Melbourne team are kidding themselves.

Well Geelong are gonna serve us a pile of shit in exchange for our best player and call it the once in a lifetime deal. I prefer to trade elsewhere.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So if Selwood wanted to come to the Crows we could offer the Cats a packet of chips. Is what they are telling us?!

Port supporters were arguing that a first round pick was enough (16 or 17) and we'd get him for free if Essendon didn't play ball.

Essendon supporters countered that he was contracted, that he was worth a first round pick and an A-grader (Wines or Wingard) and would play no footy at all in 2015 if Port didn't play ball.

Obviously in the end it was much closer to Port's wishes than Essendon's (17 + 37).
I'd say your first and second was about bang in the middle of your just first and your first and A-grader. Your first an A-grader is probably equivalent to two firsts and you paid your first and a second rounder.

If Essendon got 17 and 37 for Ryder why wouldn't we get two first rounders for Dangerfield?

Danger has to agree to any trade though right?

No good telling Geelong to GF if Danger says GF to everyone else...

Good way to drive the price up for Dangerfield/Conners is to have Geelong think there are other options.

Had a nice chat on the phone with a relative of mine 30 minutes ago. Lets just say he works in the football industry in Victoria and knows about one club (and heard about other club) watching the Geelong/Crows/Danger saga with great interest... Now lets just say that Geelong put an offer to Danger, Crows match, then talks fail at the trade table, and looks like Danger risks getting pick up by Carlton or Brisbane in the draft.
So this club then talks to Danger/Conners and offers, say 1.1m a year for 5 years (other Club is rumoured to offer 1.2m) and very happy to give the Crows a good trade...

Wonder if Danger would take the deal?
Of course he would, the "I just want to go home charade" is just an excuse as he wants to be a regular on the footy show.

He will have no problems going to a Melbourne club, he wants to look like a good guy saying Geelong blah blah but if a deal can't be done he will sign on the dotted line very quick to play at the Pies.

I don't think 1 first and 1 second is quite halfway between 1 first, and 3 firsts!!

Two first round draft picks for Dangerfield seems fair to me.

EDIT: I can't read. You said that our first pick and an A-grader = 2 firsts, I thought you meant our A-grader = 2 firsts. Pretty sure Ollie Wines is worth more than 1 first pick!!!!

From a Chris McDermott article actually.

AFL rules dictate Dangerfield can’t make his future known until October 9.

Ironically the Gold Coast’s Charlie Dixon and Co can.
Yeah, it's a pretty stupid rule. Once the season is finished for the player's current club and his desired destination club, why shouldn't they just be able to get on with it? I understand they can't formally lodge the paperwork until a specific date, but what does it matter if he publicly nominates Geelong on the 9th or the 8th or yesterday?

All Melbourne clubs and probably more will be watching this situation like hungry beasts waiting for a chance to swoop. This is far from done.

I would imagine as we speak Adelaide are taking calls from other clubs regarding potential trades. If Geelong don't get their heads around whats required it could well blow up in their face.
Would love it if it was a genuine bidding war, but I fear hawthorns version of "fair value" will be even worse than Geelong's.

It is feasible they would be willing to do a generous trade to get us onside tho and then convince danger to go

When you pick your best young talent out, yes, he's worth more than one first pick if you just say "A-Grader" then I think there can be a large varying difference.

2 first rounders is in the middle of both clubs supporters and that's what I'm saying we'll get. You don't disagree so what's the issue?

I'm fairly certain we could match a deal like 1.1/1.2 M.

We've lost so much talent in recent years and only brought in Eddie who was a bargain for 400K

Davis
Bock
Dangerfield
Gunston
Tippet
Not just Eddie...must look at the balance of things more objectively

The notable ins are:

Betts
Jenkins
Lynch
Crouch x 2
Also drafted Laird and Brown. Have done OK in this regard considering the Tippetgate penalties

I am no doubt missing 1 or 2 others that we may have drafted or traded for with compo picks etc

He wanted to leave so I doubt the blues would had overpaid for a player that didn't want to be there .
Nah, his preference was to stay at Carlton. But in all likelihood, that was his last contract (certainly his last chance at a big one), so the extra $400k will make a pretty big difference to him in retirement. If they'd matched, he would have stayed.

Nein. Danger doesn't want to come to a depleted club where we're trading left right & centre or ripping off our current players to fit him in, discussions have been in the works for a hell of a long time and there are rumours the Motlop re signing was done around Danger too.

They'd give up more than they did for O'Rourke, which was a 1st and 2nd round pick in exchange for a 3rd round pick (admittedly not much difference between our 2nd and their 3rd). Be interesting what will happen with the ability to trade future draft picks. So reckon this year's 1st rounder plus next year's 1st rounder would be the minimum, and an exchange of other picks.
Throw gunstan in as well, time for him to come home, all is forgiven mummy's boy.

It's in our best interests to match for sure should the compo not be adequate. As soon as a match is made, its back to regular trade territory as if the player wasn't a RFA. I say this is in our best interests as we believe Geelong and only Geelong are Paddy's preferred option. If it was just a Vic based club he wants to go to, then matching isn't in our best interests obviously as Carlton would get him for free, and we get nothing. Compo in that situation is preferable no matter what it is.

If paddy wanted to play hard ball, his team would indicate that while he would prefer Geelong, he has no problem going to Carlton. This is really what it hinges on. If his intentions are as clear as the Geelong faithful would have us believe and Geelong is the *only* choice, then we certainly have the power when matching as he won't drop to the draft and a trade will be done.
You lost me at Paddy wanting to play at Carlton
