Daniel Bell no future

In defence of Bell, he can't help it when the other 17 lazy blokes won't tell him that somebody's on his tail. Or that during a kick out absolutley nobody gives him anything, all standing there waiting for him to pull something out of his ass

I'll gladly eat my humble pie, I wanted him back in the side, got my wish, and he well and truly butchered it.

He was appalling. How was that kick out that sold McDonald down to the river, leading to Davis' goal and the end of any hope we had.

Not sure I'd go as far as saying no future, but theres a lot of work left there.

He does look a bit indecisive down back. Maybe a run in the midfield? We need some pace.
For Sandy maybe, has had too many chances this season at the top level.

CJ was BOG again for Sandy yesterday, its about time he got rewarded. Whelan was also amongst the best, get rid of Bode (who whilst ok today, isn't as good as the Wrecker)

I hope everyone now fully understands why Bell was dropped for today's game
No need to be a smart arse about it mate. Sure he made some costly mistakes today but where were you when he was BOG several times last year. I find your personal vendetta against Bell disrespectful and immature. To claim he has no future is absolutely rediculous because Wonnaeamiri would be the only bloke on our list, every other player has had a form slump, it what happens.

It's probably fair to see him dropped, but with Rivers out he might get another go and I would have him in the side in shocking form ahead of Jace Bode (who can be replaced by CJ). Cale Morton could be due for a spell as well, he classy skills went missing today.

I am a supporter of his so I would go the other way, I'd give him the big responsibility of Richo if he lines up on a wing. He has the body to go with him around the ground and I think it would be a nice match up.

I thought Bells intensity was impressive today. Once again i feel like you guys are watching a different game. Used his upper body strength well (dont argues etc). Was part of a goal kick in disaster but if no one is presenting what do you do?

In a perfect world with no injuries to players you'd have to send him back to sandy for at least 3 weeks.

Alas he'll probably continue to get games because of our limited stocks in the smaller defender bracket

No mate, you are obviously watching a different game. His "don't argues" were ill directed and gave away free kicks because he was punching the opposing player in the face.

He wasn't part, he was the whole thing in that monstrosity. If no one is presenting then you boot the absolute shit out of the thing, better to make a mistake 60+ meters out then 10 meters out.

I was high on Bell but after today and his recent form this year, he must go and stay at sandy for at least a month.

The man speaks the truth. School-boy error really. When in doubt just belt the ____ out of it.

17 players dont make an effort to present and its bells fault?

Yes, there's no defending him. Even though there's no leads he kicks to McDonald who is about 10 meters away from him NOT making a lead with Leon Davis right there with him.

Now I don't know about you but I'd rather kick to someone who is 50 meters out not making a lead with a player on them than 10 meters out with a player on them.

If he booted the thing and Collingwood still got a goal then nobody would have held him accountable for that.

I would have been pissed off with him if he bombed it and it came straight back, Wheatley got lucky White took a very good mark when he did it. The players just weren't working for Bell at all, and so whilst he stuffed up you can't give him 100% of the blame. In this instance it is 95% his fault, but in the scheme of things our kick-ins have continually been poor and the coaches (and maybe the fitness staff) must take some of the blame.

How though? He saw McDonald and unless he is very very shortsighted, he should have seen Davis who was less than a meter behind him and then set McDonald up with a short hospital ball that was destined to be intercepted and the only thing that was unknown was whether or not Davis would convert.

i dont usually go out of my way to stick up for bell, but today i will.

How did medurst go today? Most collingwood supporters would tell you he had his worst game for the year. Bell played on him.

Sure that kick out was shockingly bad, but like i have said on another post do you think bell wants to kick out or do you think he is told to?

The reality is our kick outs suck, i dont think its the kicker i think it is the fact we have no flipping idea where to run when one of our players are kicking in. Theres no structure which makes it very hard for who ever is doing it.

BTW one of bells dont argues was bullsh!t, the guy dropped his shoulder to tackle him and bell pushed him away against his shoulder.

Daniel Bell is very important for us. He will be a very, very good player for MFC. Good skills, quick and tough. He nearly always takes out a good/quick/skillful opponent. Once again, he did it today.

One bad kick-in, which I am not willing to blame him for - he was signalling for Junior to come forward because he knew Davis was there, but thought it was the best option (there were no others). Junior needed to lead just a metre or two. Kicking in is the toughest gig and it is up to the others to work and present.

Belly - I hope you don't get dropped...if Bode is in the team and you are not it is a travesty.

Belly is a great stopper, but should never be given the ball in pressure situations. He just has no composure whatsoever. I remember once incident today where he handballed straight to a collingwood player in our goalsquare!!

Unfortunately composure is not an easy thing to learn, especially when you keep making the same mistakes every week. Perhaps a spell in the 2's would do him some good to get his confidence up.

"Daniel Bell is very important for us. He will be a very, very good player for MFC. Good skills, quick and tough. He nearly always takes out a good/quick/skillful opponent. Once again, he did it today." - Demonman, you are 100% correct.

He was our best defender for the whole of last year when we had no one.

The other 17 gave him absolute nothing for that kick in and the handball was just a horrid mistake, and I would have wanted him to kick that goal from 50 but you its easy to take pot shots when a blokes out of form.

If it means a game at Sandy then so be it but he is a very important member of the side and to say he has no future just shows a lack of football knowledge.

Some very harsh calls on Bell IMO! He did some very good things and went in hard.He has a good physical presence and is quick.

Sure he made a couple of judgement errors, however he is a very important player for the MFC.

I'm sure the MFC coaching staff appreciate his efforts and that is what counts!

Re: Bell & Medhurst incident. Medhurst was extremely lucky to get the free kick. Bell just edged Medhurst out which is nothing wrong. Poor umpiring for paying the free against him.
