With a week on the sidelines (at least) and two 90+'s about to come out of his average, if you were planning on trading him, now is the time...

I'd planned on keeping him but with this injury cloud and potential to score very low scores, I'm thinking of trading him for Jake King...

I have 8 trades and only Palmer left to upgrade so trades aren't a major issue...

What's everyone elses plans with him? Bust? or persist?
 
I've been waiting for this thread to surface.

Is he worth persisting with? I mean, I would have to cop a ZERO from him if Scott Selwood or Spangher don't play. I have only 4 trades left and my team for me is pretty much complete. The 4 trades I have left I was really only using to cover for injuries.

Hammy injuries this season seem to have taken players out for at least 3-4 weeks.......................what's the official word on his injury does anyone know?

OR should I go for a like for like swap of Bradshaw to either:

Brett Jones
Lindsay Gilbee
Adam McPhee

Not much separating their averages????
 
Good time to trade him out. Of those three mentioned, Gilbee would be worth a look. He's been very inconsistent in 2008 but is stringing some good games together. Fletcher's another smokey. However, you're probably best off going for a keeper unless money really is an issue. Newman, Milburn, Fisher and Goddard are more expensive but less risky propositions. I'm not sold on Bock yet. Birchall will also be good if you can hold off on him for another two weeks--I guess that depends on your emergencies.
 
If he is out, i'm trading him to David Myers.

Sound like a negative trade but i feel Myers can do the same thing as Ibbotson is doing. It will also give me 120k which will help me upgrade both Gibbs/Palmer and Morton to 100+ average players (Kornes, Richo/Chapman). Also Myers b/e is negative so still has heaps to go up and if i have to trade him out, it should be a straight swap or just a very very small upgrade.

I have $52K in the bank and combined with Bradshaw's price would mean I could afford Newman. But leave me with little $$$$ :(

Other option is to swap Selwood/Spanger for Armfield/Urquhart. Won't cop a zero this week and when Bradshaw comes back you'll have a reserve. I just feel with the way the backs are going this year you'll definitely cop a few more injuries and you can't keep swapping them all out.

Thanks mate, you make a very valid point (this is only my 2nd year doing DT; I'll chop next year as I've learnt so much this year).

I've never really thought about swapping a benched rookie. Who out of Scooter and Spangher would you think would get more games?

P.S. I have Armfield on the bench already in the midfield.......
 
Depending on what is happening with Cornes, I'm keeping Bradshaw.

If Chad plays, Armfield can cover for Bradshaw.

If Chad is out for a while, might do the double swap of Chad and Bradshaw to Birchall and Milburn or someone similar. But that means I'll have to keep Ibbotson as my 7th defender all year (at least until finals), and I'll also miss out on the Armfield boat meaning I leave Wonna as a reserve all year.

The more I read this, the more I want to do the same.
It will allow me to trade Palmer -> Bartel.
Only trouble is having 2 weak players in my backline, Waters and Myers. It would also mean I miss out on a backup for the backline with SDT getting limited opportunites but I think he will play a few more games this season.
The only other weaknesses in my team would be possibly Goodes, Simmonds and the Birdman. Those 3 arent really much of a weakness though. Team would be:

Cornes, Shaw, Goddard, Milburn, Birchall, Waters, Myers -SDT, Hansen
Bartel, Swan, Corey, Priddis, Stevens, Goodes -Wellingham, Ward
Cox, Simmonds -Kreuzer
Pavlich, JB, Riewoldt, SJ, BJ, Burton, Chapman/R.Murphy/Gia -Tippett, Valenti

Yes? Good idea to get Myers? Will he get rested? Will he score well enough?

Haha, yea. Decided Mackie would score more for the rest of the year...at least I hope he does! How many trades do you have left? Myers may need to be upgraded later on in the season so you may want to leave 1 or 2 trades for that. Palmers 116 is still in his system and with Kornes most likely tagging Bartel (I got Kornes and Bartel :mad:) you could wait on Palmers increase in $ and Bartels decrease saving you some $$! Even if Bartel hits his BE, I think Palmer would still increase more because of his lower BE

After getting my team looking like that, I would only have 3. I think i'll be happy to keep him in my team for the year. I'm out of the race to win the Competition but want to post some consecutive big scores to impress my mates and shut the random pricks up in my league who brag about their team averaging 1600:D I do have another option though and that is to keep Bradshaw. I could still do the Bartel trade but could only get Hall for Rioli instead of Chapman or possibly R. Murphy. I forgot to mention with option 2 I get Armfield as an emergency in the backline for the rest of the year.

a bad trade?

I need to do the downgrade to get the upgrade but it does leave me more money for injuries and such. Would have 5 trades left
