So Neeld is criticised for his ' Money Ball tactics' which failed. Seems like Roos is going on a similar path and he is the messiah.

By all means get Cross in as a coach, but not as a player.

Yeah, because experienced, hard-bodied midfielders are exactly what they don't need .

how is it money ball? cross is a 200 game player and hardly out of the dogs side... wasn't the same with the other few...

need some logic mate

Melbourne don't need to go down the path or recruiting 30+ players.

When will they learn !

Roos isn't called the Sundance Kid for no reason.

Only played VFL for 10 games.

Cross was hardly a regular in 2013.

Roos isn't called the Sundance Kid for no reason.

They have 18 players 22 or younger on their list, another 8 who are 23. FFS, they need players who can help the kids develop and protect. Players like Daniel Cross, Sam Lonergan, etc.

EDIT: Furthermore, the oldest player currently on their list is Shannon Byrnes, followed by Colin Sylvia. They're the only 2 players older than 27

I don't think it's got a coaching component I believe he was interested in a sports science role within a football club after he's done playing.
He has done some coaching in TAC Cup, but is fully qualified (degree) in sports science, and has had John Quinn as a mentor for the past couple of years. He is ready to go post playing career.

Excellent decision by Melbourne. I'm really glad for them and I think this is the first sign of many that the decision to get Roos is going to make all the difference in the world.

There's no doubt that Clark is the best ruckman on our list, so it's a definite possibility.

It's funny, I just did my dream 2014 Dees side on another site and didn't have Fitzy in the 22. But he's definitely got some gifts and will get games.

Fitz IMO is as talented as Watts, would love him at Essendon to take the fwd/ruck role so JD can focus on being the best forward since Carey (semiserious)

He just signed a new deal a few weeks ago so we won't be looking to move him unless you offer us Jesus*.

*Has to be midfielder Jesus or no dice.

I cant agree to that, Watts is so damn talented but he doesnt put the effort in, fitz does. You can tell, he doesnt stop running

and is jd meant to be jess hogan?

no, not at all, im not saying we had a better year, but the fact that you are basically insinuating we are a second class side where you didnt fair that much better is a bloody joke tbh.

Especially since he didn't seem to kick off this trolling until after we beat them...

again... you have no idea...

Very entertaining to watch from this end mate.

The argument seems to be that Cross would be a bad signing who wouldn't achieve anything much for us, while automatically performing better next year than Nathan Jones, Mitch Clark, Jesse Hogan, James Frawley, Colin Garland, Jack Viney, Watts etc. because he was in a team who won more games and had more finals appearances over the last seven years.

Also because we've been terrible most of the time over the last 6/7 years, that means whoever our team is and whoever our coaching staff are, we'll always be terrible.

Firstly anyone that watches football know we are horrible and have been for a long time...so no surprises there Einstein.

Maybe he should go off and start another thread on this board about how terrible we are. I'm sure everyone will be keenly interested and eager to participate in discussion about such exciting and previously untouched subject matter.

Have the utmost respect for the fella but he is not an AFL standard footballer anymore. If Melbourne want to start winning football matches then they would be well advised to look elsewhere for solutions to their midfield issues.

Disagree. He was playing some good footy during the Dogs resurgence towards the end of the season.

We need some immediate mature bodied mids (at least 3). We're not looking at Cross to be a gamebreaker, but someone to ease the workload on Jones and Viney. I assume that Cross will also have a part-time coaching role.

We'll pick him up for nothing as a DFA, and he'll have a more positive effect on our performance than some of the fringe players still on our list.

Melbourne have reportedly offered Daniel cross a lifeline with a 2yr deal that he comes and plays with Melbourne on a coach/player contract!

Copycats. Doing what we did with Hudson this and next season

The fact you have resorted to using interstate travel the week before the game speaks volumes about your pathetic argument (Melbourne played outside of Victoria in Round 22 as well).

I'm looking forward to whatever excuses you have for your wooden spoon in 2014.

Can't wait to hear more about the glorious victory the Dogs had over us that night also.

And how Dawes being injured makes us better...
