Great addition for the Dees. Like what they've done with ready-to-go mids (of varying experience) in this offseason. Having four new mids who would be likely at this stage to be in their Round 1 lineup can only assist the development of players like Toumpas and prevent them being 'thrown to the wolves' to the same extent. Should be a good thing for Trengove as well.

Melbourne looks like it could be frisky this year.

What's changed?

Pickers has negotiated a very good contract. Preference has always been to remain in Melbourne, other clubs 'dropped off', whilst the Dees interest got stronger and stronger. Roo' phone call last week, just about sealed it.

So when is this set to be done?

I don't think the Dees will lose any sleep if they don't get Cross.

He struggled at the Bullies with better players around him, he won't be much at Melbourne.

They won't lose any sleep, no. But they will be better for having him around.

He was dropped at the Dogs not because he was struggling so much, but that he was behind a line of players that played his position that deserved a place in the side moreso than him. There aren't exactly that many players that will be in front of him at the Dees.

He won't be under Minson - best ruck in 2013 - he will be under Gawn, not a great tap ruckman.
I'd say Jamar, but he is shot to pieces.

So Cross will have to fight for hard ball, with that little body of his.
I cannot see Cross having a great year on field for the Demons.

I do believe he'd be as asset off field.

He was under Minson in 2011 when he wasn't that good a ruckman. He's been under Hudson, who was never the best ruck in any year. And Street.

Cross has been fighting for the hard ball with that little body for his entire career.

He will deadset kill a man trying to fight for that hard ball. He'll be fine.

Troll or just plain ignorant?

I would be stoked if we pick Cross up, would be good to have a guy who works hard at training and can still manage to get a bit of the footy.

Also he would help take the pressure off the younger kids in our midfield.

Anyone that thinks the game has passed him is delusional.

Classic. So Cross is suddenly some sort of receiver, who has only survived in the AFL due to the dominance of his ruckman...

as others have said, this is ridiculous. Cross is a battle-hardened warrior. Getting the ball is not a problem with him. The issue comes with his disposal at times, particularly his kicking.
