Just an interesting thought, how many young guys sign a contract extension, then comes out the following week and play their best game, get 10 coaches votes and potentially win 3 Brownlow votes?
That would have to be an extremely rare occurrence, surely?!

Let’s peg it back to quantifiable probability..
In our club’s history, don’t think this has ever happened before?
The only one as a possibility (in the entire league) that I can think of is Nick Daicos, but I can’t be stuffed doing the research on this!

Plenty of examples where players play through the motions the following year after an extension. The fact he plays his best game right away really shows his commitment to the club and a commitment to play at his best.
The mentality that every coach would love in a player. And every fans too, I’m guessing!

That’s another big thing, I’ve mentioned a few times in our game day thread earlier this year at the games I attended, he was getting to the right spots but we weren’t using him.

Draper would be playing at this level if we just got a few games into him like curtin... instead we play Murphy... who gets 1 possession.

I wouldn't be overly concerned about Nank

The two players in his position will be 32 and 34 at the start of 2026

I rate Nank. I think his trajectory might be like Berry.

Initially I liked Berry's early games and he showed he had what it takes. But along the way there were 2nd year blues and some disposal issues.

I think sometime Nank takes on too much, then gets caught because the pace of AFL footy. He'll get there. Not everybody has a rocket like trajectory.

Those highlights are pretty bloody good. Complete game. Loads of strong marks, elite kicks, side steps, 1v1 ground ball wins, goals, htb, run and bounce past two players...

Think teams will be tagging him instead of Dawson if he keeps pumping out games like that.

I thought this about Grundy after his massive overs contract at Pies.

There was someone else too... It was 15 to 16 I reckon. Played out of his skin, then tanked ... never mind.. can't remember.

When he's moving through traffic and delivering a kick he definitely reminded me of Pendles, seems to create extra time.

Absolutely agree. Just doesn't seem to be moving that quickly, but nobody gets near him.

Re watching the highlight reel - I wont go into the postives because everyone has already nailed them!

The one thing I really picked up though was a couple of examples when he should have kicked with his right foot but forced it onto his left.

Hope our coaching group have a chat with him, because no doubt other teams will take notice. Will be an interesting watch over the next month.

I was always a big advocate of learning to kick both sides and I would still teach a child to early on. However I really don't think it matters much to be one sided given how many elite players over the years have gotten away with it.

Pretty sure I've never seen Neale use his left. He avoids it like the plague. Lance Franklin would always find a way to get onto his left foot despite the whole world knowing he would try. I've seen Dawson use his right, but he rarely does.

If you're clever enough I don't think it's a necessity.

He just always seems under pressure and with no time.
Definitely not saying he doesn’t work hard.
Hower his tackles (1), pressure acts and one percenters were low for this match.

That tackle at 1:00 is about the only thing that's been lacking in his game. I'd love to see him bully opponents more often.
