That trip home to Perth didn't help, had a few early touches then was pretty well unsighted.
I think it comes down to the final round, a stand out game by either Curtin, Reid or Ashcroft would probably be enough to clinch it. Marvel under the roof is a good opportunity for Curtin to get 25 and a couple of goals.
All 3 are around the same odds now.
If none of the 3 have a standout game this week either of them could win it.

Quite possibly, teams are putting a bit of time into him as well. They know how dangerous he can be

With Curtin of course named again this week, it means he will have played every minor round match this year, and played a full match in all but one of them (subbed off in the first Showdown).

I definitely wouldn't have predicted that at the start of the season! The club has backed him in strong this year.

I’m in panic stations, I put $250 on Ashcroft the other day @$3.00, just in case.

Mate how are you now playing this, I found the debate, and advice provided to you, genuinely interesting re “hedging” strategies to minimise risk (which is what I believe you very reasonably tried to do here) but now can’t believe Murphy is such a strong fave at 1.8 (Curtin 3.50 and Ashcroft 5.0). Things change fast..

The inherent difficultly I see is that there’s a lack of transparency re voting criteria (ie is Curtin 5 or 6 excellent games better than say Murphy or Ashcrofts good 10-12 games). That and the underlying volatility of odds based on short term sentiment (ie Curtin went from 100-1 to 2-1 within 6-7 weeks or so when all media talk was he had it sewn up a mth ago) make it a very difficult market to both bet and then also manage exposures IMO.

Anyway man, wish you and the rest of us long on Curtin the best and let’s hope he has a blinder to finish off the year. He is clearly shown he has the most potential and played the best footy at times of all 3 contenders. It’s just whether that gets him over the line or not.

Agree, his exceptional form from 2-3 mths ago has dropped off. Perhaps tiredness I don’t know, but with one of our key match winners now out Dan becomes important esp given his size against a team like the Pies hopefully causing havoc at both ends of the ground .

I really think that Dan is going to be that x factor player now for us in finals not bacause he can replace what izak does but with what he can do between the arcs. Marking target, hard runner, laser left foot kick, tackling beast and smoothe moverthrough traffic. I say to nicks, really let him loose

I'm guessing they were largely holding back on his work load against some lesser teams.

He ran 15.2km against the Pies, which was 2nd highest on the ground, 15.6km against the Hawks which was 4th highest and 15.7km against Port which was 2nd highest on ground. Eagles and North games he doesn't look to have gotten anywhere near that.

Fantastic he’s played every game this year.

He looked a bit tired (like a few others) on the weekend with only 7 touches. I don’t think we used him coming out of defence as well as previous weeks. But regardless, the week off should do him well.

I feel like teams are already playing through the opposite wing to bypass Dan. First noticed it against the Eagles, and now feels like its a thing oppo teams are doing.

I think we need to force the issue back through Curtin more to get him back amongst it again.

It's been much more contested around Dan in the last couple of matches.

Funnily enough it was his games against the cellar dwellers West Coast and North Melbourne that will cost him the RS. Doesn't matter though, He's got bigger things to win.
