Great work, thanks.

I hadn’t seen footage before. FMD, he’s a gun. The poise, skill, agility for someone his size. Ridiculous.
Someone’s made a mistake, he’s 187 not 197 😆

Umm thankyou GWS for calling out of the blue! Kinda unbelievable we moved from 10 to 7 with just a F2 and the downgrade of 14 didn't matter as we got the player we wanted there too!!

Hamish and Reid must be ridiculously happy

he doesnt exactly look miserable now does he….
Had like a 1% chance that West Coast were going to trade for him. Once that pick swap deal fell through, he could've ended up anywhere arcoss Australia. At least Adelaide is the closest to WA.

1. What a sliding doors moment this trade and draft period has been. Had we shipped pick 10 for petty...no curtin. I really believe curtins ceiling is way higher than petty - good player that he is. Thank god we didn't trade that pick for him this year.

2. Anyone who says clubs hold grudges in future drafts if they are taken advantage on in a trade period is mistaken. GWS very happy to trade and trade fairly with us today after we grabbed hately off them for nothing. Clubs only care about trying to trade for advantage in each draft and reset each year

Curtin is better than WC F1st.
GWS always made it clear they wanted to stay in the early part of this years draft. WC obviously didnt try hard enough to please GWS.

No it’s not. There are a heap of fresh young kids leading the way now compared to them. Culture is significantly better in the squad

Ah fresh kids, new improved kulcha, gotcha.

I would love for him to show that midfield ability in the AFL, but I'm sceptical whether it will translate at his size. How many 197cm players have played midfield? Would be crazy.

Hopefully the coaches have learnt a lesson from Dawson and will be willing to give it a go.

It wouldn't be the worst thing to have another Dawson running around half back. I also wonder if he could turn into a gun key forward?

Definitely an unknown which might explain why he slide (had he been 192cm he would have been gone top 3 as a midfielder) but he doesn't seem to have loss his speed and agility after his growth spurt.

You picked very well with Curtin

in terms of flight risk - relax. His father is a partner in a big 4 accounting firm and has lived in Adelaide, Perth, Jakarta and London. Travel to the family is an opportunity and adventure

He is a very good leader, worst ceiling is a taller Grant Birchall and he did spend loads of time as a midfielder who kicks goals (a la Bont)

Jed Walter said Curtin was the best defender he played on

I am a Claremont member and alumni of his school so have had loads of input on how good he is.

We were offering you guys the Draper pick and you still took him. Speaks volumes

Stoked with this but the big question for me is…. Why didn’t GWS want him and draft him themselves if he’s such an elite talent?

If he does end up a tall midfielder, GWS aren’t exactly stacked with emerging mids at the moment. Interesting call from them

Callaghan and Green are elite prospects.

If there is genuinely bad will in a trades over multiple years, i feel clubs will think twice about dealing. But at the end of the day its a professional sport and clubs must move on from previous years quickly or they are found wanting. So grudges will die fast. Although Dodo from Essendon is an example of driving a list into the ground because not a lot of clubs wanted to deal with him.

Melbourne didn't want him either - or not over Windsor

Talent identification and needs ranking order. Curtin may simply have not been a positional prospect they felt they wanted to prioritise.
