You picked very well with Curtin

in terms of flight risk - relax. His father is a partner in a big 4 accounting firm and has lived in Adelaide, Perth, Jakarta and London. Travel to the family is an opportunity and adventure

He is a very good leader, worst ceiling is a taller Grant Birchall and he did spend loads of time as a midfielder who kicks goals (a la Bont)

Walters said Curtin was the best defender he played on

I am a Claremont member and alumni of his school so have had loads of input on how good he is.

We were offering you guys the Draper pick and you still took him. Speaks volumes

The crows spent lots of time on him. If he turns into a bont, damn what a get!

The player every team wanted to trade back in, or up, to get. What a steal. I'm feeling like there some Pavlich in reverse situation going on.

On a side note, I'm looking forward to seeing a midfield battle of: Curtin (197cm), Dawson (192cm) and Laird (178cm) vs Nash (197cm), Hustwaite (195cm) and Watson (170cm). Surely it can be done even if it's just for the lols.

Reckon the only reason he looked 'sad' was probably because he was expecting to go to WCE, North or Hawks, so Adelaide was probably a bit left-field.

Reckon Adelaide's probably the best club he could've ended up in regards to his development, tbh. Probably have a similar trajectory to your captain, so would be perfect for him to learn off.

So he was a midfielder before he had a 10cm growth spurt, so he knows how to play midfield, we would be insane to not eventually play him as one.
We dont need him in the midfield, we have Sloane. :$

Eagles only have themselves to blame here, they had their F1 as an option if they wanted Curtin that badly.

They legit had the draft capital to get GWS Pick 7.

What position would he likely play if he debuted early in 2024?
I think the beauty of Curtin fundamentally is that he is not just a tall and can play that third tall role if needed. Think it puts pressure on Worrell to perform and probably Keane as well. If one of them have a lack luster start to the year and Curtin dominates the SANFL (20+ touches, 7+ marks per game), think Nicks' hand will be forced on this one.

Really?

They offered their F1st.

What more should they have offered?
Surely you offered your first to GWS first and I reckon they would have taken it, you must have asked for a bit coming back?

I think GWS mainly just wanted to stay in this draft

Eagles might have asked for F1 + 23 for 7 + 16 (or whatever the picks ended up as), which takes the Giants out of taking their guys completely

Curtin should be competing for round 1

he should look happy not going to North

in all serious people are reading way to much into his facial expressions

go back to footage this year when he has won medals, his expression is exactly the same

maybe he’s just a pretty reserved guy

Must admit, didn't think we would be bold enough to make a play for Curtin, let alone get him.

Im a little on the fence here, probably still a bit scarred after the McCasey debacle.

Really hope the lad can settle into Adelaide and make the most of his talent. Elite KPPs that can possibly play mid are very hard to find.

Stoked with this but the big question for me is…. Why didn’t GWS want him and draft him themselves if he’s such an elite talent?

If he does end up a tall midfielder, GWS aren’t exactly stacked with emerging mids at the moment. Interesting call from them
GWS have 2 of the best young mids in the game imo

that's exactly what they are stacked with

dont think Curtin will be playing much SANFL.....will start round 1

Curtin is better than WC F1st.
GWS always made it clear they wanted to stay in the early part of this years draft. WC obviously didnt try hard enough to please GWS.
Perhaps wce needed to try and trade their f1 with us for our 10 + 14. Then make the trade with GWS to satisfy them in this draft.

Honestly i am so happy we have curtin and if he really can move into midfield and become that top end dawson like mid, we won't feel missing on a top mid next year in the least

The whole GWS move just has me shaking my head. All they got was a light upgrade on 17 and a future second.

They then pick a bolter with their first and follow it with moving up 1 pick and give up a future second.

Bizarre, wonder if they were drug tested.

I was worried when all the other parasites got interested in that pick 7..but luckily we secured that pick 14 in that draft period trade with GC and Melbourne and were lucky GWS wanted to stay in the 1st round of this draft and it put us pole position
