Dodgy stolen Russian submarine

I'd take it, honestly. I love Curtin, but x22 is a great return, and his current odds are based on two fantastic games in three weeks. Easy to forget he had only 9 touches last week. He would need to essentially maintain that 20+ disposals and 1+ goals form line for the rest of the season, or even improve on it, to win the rising star.

I would like to formally apologise to anybody who took my terrible advice here.

You’d hate to be a winger and make your way out to the square then see this bloke lining up next to you.

Most of the AFL wingers are quite slight and really outside.. ie Scholl. Can you imagine scholl lining up on this bloke?
Anecdotally, when Sturt who were terrible for years in the very late 80's and well into the 90's, brought in Phil Carmen who took over and i remember him putting Nathan Irvin and Bruce Lennon on each wing. Tall, skillful rangy players that got up and down the ground and were a problem for oppo coaches to match up on. Helped get us to a GF in 98. Ever since then i have been a big fan of tall skillful wingmen. Dan Curtin is all that and more

Would anyone straight swap him for NWM?
We need to stop suggesting giving up our gun players for NWM.

It will be plenty of picks if it gets to that.

Last two weeks he has taken on more of a midfield role.

Instead of playing straight up and down wing, he is now part of the stoppage group.

Including starting in the middle Q4.

It's not just the posessions, but his presence at stoppages is making a difference.

Tracking well.
Wing is midfield too.

You mean more inside midfield. ;)

So what would be our pathway to getting NWM?

Assuming we can afford his salary, what do we offer to do the trade?

We wouldn’t trade any of our first pick team. Saints unlikely to accept a bunch of second tier players? Our first round pick won’t be a high one this year
We have 3 1st round picks available.

Stoppage mid.

Pure wing is just up and down.

Curtin is now going to each stoppage, on the outside.
Many on this board were bemoaning our lack of tall midfielders & now we have 2 genuine marking midfielders, including the biggest in the business.

Such an advantage!

anyone notice that Nicks referred to Curtin as 'his favourite' during the press conference, then followed up 'nah can't say that the rest will get upset'

pretty different vibes to last season when they couldn't work out where he would fit in

I know this is way in the past but I remember talking to Graeme Campbell about the Glenelg team in maybe 83 as a kid and he said Kernahan was his "champ"...and Sticks was probably 18 or 19. The coaches are good footballers but they see a guy in his second year doing things they wished they had done in their career and they get giddy...like a supporter does.

Honestly, in 3 years you would hate to be anyone in the AFL lining up on him. Still a baby - 3 more preseasons in the gym and he is gonna hurt people.

There evel of worry I would be having right now if we HADN'T already re-signed him....
He signed, then suddenly elevated his game to unheard of levels. The anti-ROB if you like.

Though to be fair, ROB has had a very, very good year and been great the last few weeks since his signing.
