Won't judge him too much considering all the facts, as long as he put effort in. Didn't see the game but from comments around here it sounds like he applied himself better than he has in the VFL.
 
he came in with no form or confidence and played against the best ruck in the competition. id cut him a bit of slack and id much prefer to see him play over wood. nothing wrong with giving him a few games at the moment to see if he can stand up especially given where we are. if he can we could have a very good footballer. if not we can move on at the end of the year. give him some credit for last night he didn't stop trying. really worked hard all over the ground

I'd like to see this. He was no match for Goldstein last night, but I think he had a real crack.
He'd be a nightmare to match up on if we could get him somewhere through the midfield.
Even up forward as well. With his size and athletisism he'd be a handful up there as well.
 
I think some of you blokes need to stop being sooks.
Every year there are players who just won't make it, it's not a personal thing it's just fact.
Yep I know first game...but I didn't see anything to say he has what it takes.
I'm sure some of you wish we still had bootsma....he only had a couple of games...give him a chance
List cloggers are exactly that.....list cloggers!
I wish him all the best as he's a bluebagger...but that doesn't give him a free pass to the afl, especially in my team!
 
Tough one to judge him on. Kept his head up all night and I am pleased to see he got a run. Should get a couple more games to build on and by the end of the season we will be able to make judgment on another new player to the list.

Got smashed in the ruck obviously but did alright around the ground and tried his best from what I saw. Also kicked a pretty good goal :D

Not surprising. A couple of weeks ago some supporters were wanting to drop Plowman. Sumner has also been in the gun & even a couple told us all that Thomas was no longer capable of playing AFL football.

Sadly we have a minority of supporters who really struggle to embrace players from other clubs & who take a dislike to a specific player & won't even attempt to find positives in their performances.

I wanted to drop Plowman, ME, and I'm not hiding from that. I felt that he had a poor game or two, and I noticed a lack of composure. Other people disagreed, which is FINE. I'm happy to stand corrected and I'm pleased that Plowman is developing well. I don't have an agenda, I am more than happy to find positives in his performance, and if I ever see him I'll be sure to embrace him just to make you happy.

Next time you'd like to have a dig at me just tag me.

You weren't the only one to suggest he needed to be dropped. Nor do I recall you suggesting Sumner be dropped.

Perhaps msr wasn't digging at anyone, and was more suggesting “one game does not a player make”. A statement I can certainly get behind

Gorringe has something to work with. I see why the club were more interested in making him a forward than a ruck, but if he works hard you never know what he could produce.

The interview after the game in the club room was interesting. He said he had lost his passion for the game and was now in a much better space, enjoying the coaching and looking forward to another pre-season to get stronger and better. I like the guy and hope he does well.

What would you prefer? I don't have a photographic memory, so won't be able to recall every individuals opinions on a weekly basis.
 
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. My take on the game is they should have played Wood as the number one ruck, Gorringe forward and as a backup ruckman.

Rowe struggles being thrown around. Don't mess with the back 6 when it's working.

Rucking doesn't seem like something he'll excell in

18 of our 22 last night had forgettable games. You can't just remove all context around his first game if you want to judge it fairly. If this was a game against the Scummers I might agree with you more.
