ffs MSR you can be so frustrating with your 'some people' comments.
I wanted to drop Plowman, ME, and I'm not hiding from that. I felt that he had a poor game or two, and I noticed a lack of composure. Other people disagreed, which is FINE. I'm happy to stand corrected and I'm pleased that Plowman is developing well. I don't have an agenda, I am more than happy to find positives in his performance, and if I ever see him I'll be sure to embrace him just to make you happy.

Next time you'd like to have a dig at me just tag me.

I think "some people" need to address others directly if they have a issue with them.

These are well paid athletes as well. They are not volunteers who are playing for free and most people here buy memberships and pay money to attend games. It's understandable that people will get upset if someone isn't performing when we are all so invested in Carlton.

I tend to agree that he isnt s ruckman. It was just dastardly bad luck that both k and phillips were unjured. I can see more of a utility role for him, a bit bigger than everett.

It really depends at times on the why they aren't performing we at times need to take into consideration. Some players may be down because they are playing hurt, coming off extended periods on the sidelines etc.

I think what we forget is it is pretty clear Gorringe came from a club whose culture I'd argue at it's best was poorer than ours at our worst. He clearly has capabilities for AFL level football. I don't think his game was for a lack of trying etc and hey if he gets through a couple more games (we probably need him up until the bye round) he gets cracks at teams around the mark to us which should help.

What would you prefer? I don't have a photographic memory, so won't be able to recall every individuals opinions on a weekly basis.
This is exactly the point. I remember what has been posted, but I very rarely remember who has posted it & I am not about to go searching for the poster's name.

I reiterate, some people did want to drop Plowman, some people have said that Dale Thomas is no longer AFL standard, but the post was made in the context of a post made in defence of Gorringe, who was under attack from the odd poster after getting beaten by the best ruckman in the AFL. I was not specifically singling out any one poster.

Not surprising. A couple of weeks ago some supporters were wanting to drop Plowman. Sumner has also been in the gun & even a couple told us all that Thomas was no longer capable of playing AFL football.

Sadly we have a minority of supporters who really struggle to embrace players from other clubs & who take a dislike to a specific player & won't even attempt to find positives in their performances.
That's because some of the posters on here like to think they know everything and look at things with a half glass empty attitude. They are the sorts who go to the footy just to rip on their own team. So over bandwagon fans.....

Unbelievably tough first game for Gorringe. Not going to judge him/write him off after this one game, but...

Happy to say that ruck isn't his position. Yes, he was up against the premium player under difficult circumstances, but he was comprehensively beaten.
Next week is another game where we will struggle to be competitive. Let's move Rowe to the ruck, bring in Jaksch to go forward and let Gorringe have a crack at taking Hawkins. At best, we will find that he's a competent defender and another player capable of taking the gorilla forward, at worst, he will be beaten and we can trial him the following week as a forward against Brisbane.
Three games, three positions and we might have a clearer picture of where he belongs, if at all.

Not a ruckman.

Play him on a wing where he can use his athleticism and huge tank to become a nightmare match up for opposition teams.

Totally agree, would be nice to see him running down the wing taking a contested mark from the defense release ball. Would allow levi to stay further up the ground and take that contested mark in the forward 50

Seriously, what are you waiting for.. The guy just kicked a goal using Mr Miagi's crane kick and his 1st name is Daniel!
"Daniel son" Gorringe...
New thread title...!

DG looks too light for a ruckman. I was expecting him to have a better leap as well. He just bounced off Goldie without him being noticed.

To play anywhere else on the ground he needs to go back to the 2s and get 20 possessions a game. Something he hasn't been able to do.

I am not confident of him making it.

★☆☆☆☆ Shithouse, wasted 1 hour of my Saturday for you to lose my order. How the **** do you lose an order? You have 5 tables max to keep track of. They're gonna find the Malaysian aircraft before you find my order. And don't shake your head at me when I ask for my money back, bitch I'm surprised you found my money you time wasters

Gorrange is not a tap ruckman. Tried hard but was lost in there.

As a forward maybe, he'll even chuck him on a wing.
Has utility tall written all over him, which isn't necessarily a good thing

I would look at Biclavs development to see if that would work for Daniel.
Otherwise run him as a half forward as a replacement for Walker (when he is done.)
Let him roam out on the wing as another release point for our backline.

is that really our Daniel Gorringe?

Gorringe has something to work with. I see why the club were more interested in making him a forward than a ruck, but if he works hard you never know what he could produce.
The interview after the game in the club room was interesting. He said he had lost his passion for the game and was now in a much better space, enjoying the coaching and looking forward to another pre-season to get stronger and better. I like the guy and hope he does well.

Needless to say, we all want every player that throws on a CFC jumper to do well.
The frustration with Gorringe is that it's clear he can do better, yet has on many occasions to date, has put in half-arsed efforts.....and on some occasions, quarter-arsed. :)

His athletic profile is terrific for a big man and if he maximises his strengths.........he'll have a pretty good life-style.
