What is the status on shuey?

no specifics - which i'm pinning my hopes on

Exciting midfielder Luke Shuey also looks set to join the injury-ravaged Kerr in a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Shuey, just 19, played the opening three games of the season after a horror 2009 with severe osteitis pubis.

The tigerish midfielder-forward also had scans yesterday to establish the extent of his latest knee problems.

Terrible news about Kerr's hammy - perhaps even more concerning is the new on Shuey's knee. Does anybody know how it happened, it seems like a bit of a mystery? Hopefully it is just an overuse injury and just needs some rest...

I guess the silver lining with Kerr is that we can promote another rookie, but I'm reaching hard to find any positives in this...

Some places are still suggesting that its only a few weeks, so I think I'll wait until the club confirm hes out for 3 months. If Shuey is out for an extended period I think I might just cry.

One of the links has a quote from Danniher confirming it

Massive loss. Not just because he takes the number 1 tag, but because im sure the younger kids in the side walk taller with Kerr in it. Daniel Kerr has presence and thats a major weapon in footy at any level.

Someone posted trade him to GC or GWS and that does have logic to it. BUT, Daniel Kerr could have left us for Port/Pies or to who ever else was chasing him, but stayed with us and from that day forward my respect for him as a WCE player went to a new level.

As for Hurn being a midfielder, well thats outlandish. Hurn being in the midfield would look like a fish on a bicycle(thats a Commetti line). While im at it, people suggested over pre season that A Selwood was a midfielder and i couldn't help but laugh. Hurn and Adam Selwood are backmen, and good backmen might i add.

Matt Priddis is one of the best 'in close' players in the comp, the bloke could get the ball out of a crowded phone both. He throws it on the boot because we havn't got 'great' outside players with 'strong' voices that are calling for the ball early enough. If you dont hear a voice your sense's tell you to chuck it on your boot and thats what he does.

If we had good outside midfielders, they would have a picnic getting feed by Priddis. Stating the obvious but first use of the pill is paramount and the amount of times Priddis gets his hands on it from a tap is phenominal.

Priddis was brilliant against North in the 1st half when Kerr had the tag. The tag moves to Priddis, Kerr gets 18 odd touches in the 2nd half.
Kerr injured against Essendon, tag moves to Priddis, Priddis nullified.

Yeah... Kerr will be missed. Masten will have to be his replacement in the guts as a creative, attacking and damaging mid.

To be honest I couldn't care less. I am so over this bloke, reckon bad karma will follow him wherever he goes, he is the last of the bad eggs still at the club.

At least we can expose some young mids and elevate another rookie.

Hope he gets back in 10-12 weeks , 7Sport said if Kerr has any setbacks in recovery it would be the season gone for Kerr again ! The 2004 - 2006 seasons have taken the toll on Kerr more then any other West Coast player and was close to our most important player in that period ! Kerr was very important in a premiership year and is now recieving his well earned Super Fund early ;)

Don't kid yourself, he has been loyal to the big paychecks he has recieved, continues to receive and recently not earned IMO.

So your saying he's never been offered more than he gets at WCE? Of course he's on a good wicket, as many AFL players are, but my point was he could of left for bigger coin and didn't.

Strange how people all of a sudden have an attitude change about Kerr now he's out for 3mths. 'yer lets **** him off', 'yer thats karma', 'who needs him'...........................fair wheathered supporters some of you jerk offs.

It's all good when he's been up and running but when he's down, most start to say Daniel who? Some of you are puss heads. Why dont we just delist him while we are at it.

Suidds.

short term memories are abound.

apparently cox was short of credits a few weeks back

if naitanui has a couple of quiet games - everyone will howl for him to be dropped.

The truth is Kerr is not the player once was and has contributed didley squat over the last two years. Will be missed as he takes the number one tag but has hardly tore the park up in the last two year. Blood a kid who wants to play for our club i say.

He's going to be a loss I'm afraid, but we did OK at the end of last year without him, so as with any injury it will give other people opportunity.

I can't understand the hate for Kerr. I reckon his best is past him, even though he is still at a relatively young age. The reason he is past it is because he has been putting his body on the line helping the Eagles win games of footy, including the flag in 2006, since he was 17 and his body simply can't handle what it used to. If we can get a couple of good (not great) years out of him over the remainder of his career then it will be a great career for the WCE.

So your suggesting Kerr doesn't want to play for us now.

Your right about his performance in the past 2yrs, been well below par for him, i agree with you. So, does that mean Embley, Rosa, Lynch, Waters etc can all piss off aswel?

If your going to have that attitude about Kerr, well we will be having a major list change at seasons end if we get rid of players that have had 2 shit years.

The guy has been a warrior for our club and im just not that quick to turf these types of players out. He deserves more respect because when Cuzz got the boot and that other guy left to Carlton, it could have been so easy for Kerr to piss off aswel, but he stuck fat by the club when it was on the way down.

You make him sound like such a great bloke, the truth is he is a w@nker, and looks out only for himself. Yes he has been great for us on the field in the past, but I don't respect the bloke, and I don't respect his football of late.

He stayed with the club because he got a 5 year deal worth an absolute fortune, I was against the deal back then and everything he has done on the field since has justified my concerns.

Would be good to see how much Kerr has received per game played (which he has done very little of recently) compared to those guys you have named who are not on the same wicket.

After this next stint on the sidelines he will prob be earning $200k per game...

Realistically we won't be making the eight this year so I think it will be a blessing that he misses games so we can develop our midfield.

Will be a MASSIVE loss to the club. As has been stated, Priddis will now get the main tag and the young mids will have to shoulder more of the burden.
I get really pissed off with some of our so called supporters. Some have the attention span and memory of a gnat.
Daniel could easily have gone east for more money and left the club even more in the mire when Juddas racked off and Ben was given his marching orders.
Have those of you who are saying he never makes it onto the park stopped to consider that he is injured because he puts his body on the line time and again for this club!
I hope he makes a complete recovery and I can once again see his trademark runs.

On another note: Where are all those experts on here who thought Coxy should have been sent back to the WAFL?? Woosha said after round one that Coxy would take four to six weeks to gain match fitness - and he has improved each and every week.
I just hope Nic doesn't endure a few bad games or those with a short term memory will be calling for his head and saying we should have drafted Watts. Honestly some of our supporters have me shaking my head in wonder. I would guess that most of them are amongst our younger supporters who have never followed WAFL footy and don't appreciate how difficult it is to make finals and win premierships. Being an Eagles supporter in the AFL has spoilt them with success.

A few people have raised this, so I'd like to respond.

Yes, I'd agree to a certain extent that Kerr's body is now more vulnerable due to nearly a decade of bash-and-crash work around the packs and could partly explain his recent injury record.

However...don't you think his body could also be paying the price for some of his previous nocturnal activities? I'm sure we all remember the taped phone conservation from a few years back. If he was engaging in that sort of behaviour on a regular basis in the past, it was bound to come back and bite him in some form eventually.
