News Daniel Kerr

I would really like him to have a farewell game (this year or next) as he is all that is left of that dominating midfield trio of Judd, Cousins and Kerr. Judd and Cousins didn't leave the club on fantastic terms to say the least so I would like Kerr to get the recognition and respect he deserves in his final game, whenever that may be.

So Kerr's knee flared up. Everyone in here going to apologise about saying Kerr should have played in the AFL over the WAFL? Just like most things in here I'm sure the MC / Eagles coaching staff know a lot more information than us. I know they don't get it right every time, but it seems like they got it right here.

And don't say he shouldn't have played in the WAFL. The WAFL is a glorified Training session for the AFL blokes and 1,000,000% better option to test the knee out there than the AFL.

His knee has "flared up" after every game for the last 2 seasons...,

It would have flared up if he'd played F grade amateurs. It's got virtually no cartilage left...

The point remains it flared up post game. Again. As I said last week he has a certain number of games left in his knees - and it's not many - wasting them on WAFL games is dumb...

How does post game swelling and soreness in a buggared knee justify playing him at a lower level?

Or are you just another clueless fanboi?

I am guessing you know this through one of your connections. I think a fair chunk of us assumed it was just the hamstrings that were giving him grief the past couple of seasons, and that the knees this season were a recent problem that were more severe than expected.

I'd still say his niggles are hampering him more than it has in the past though, and the fact we're arguing about whether he he should/shouldn't be playing is an indictment on our failed development of inside mids more than it is about whether we should/shouldn't be playing Kerr.

If we had adequate/worthwhile up and comers we wouldn't be so concerned about Kerr having to play in the WAFL.

The problem is that in his condition he's still so close to being in the 22; champion or not, that's still damning on the rest of the list.

Kerr's a tough one for me, love the bloke as a player and what he brings to the field when he's fit and firing but everyone's career draws to an end at some time. Kerr's body gets bashed severely week in week out and it's almost caught up with him permanently so how much time can we get out of him and is he still an integral part of our midfield? Yes IMO
Some may look at kerr's spot in the team from now on as a waste and should be getting games into younger players and whilst I do agree that the younger players need more game time to develop I also see that what kerr brings to the field (his courage, his intensity, his poise, his never give up attitude etc etc) is something we don't have elsewhere in the guts and is also important to maintain a culture around the younger playing group. He teaches how to give 110%. Providing he is fit enough to run out 4 quarters I'm happy to see him stay on for 2014 to give us some grunt and lead by example but if his body won't hold up I'd disappointingly say farewell to an awesome footballer and cherish the years of enjoyment i got watching him bust a game open or steal victory from the clutches.
A champion whichever way it goes in my book.

Why in just about every one of your posts do you have to resort to abuse?

All time favourite player for me Kerr is always preferred him over Judd and cousins for some reason champion footballer will go down as one of the greats of club his list awards really doesn't do his talent any favour. Let him play a farewell game and let him retire don't wont the guy running his body into the ground for no reason

Settle down. Why so aggressive? I mean you obviously know more than everybody so I'll just stay quiet? I bet the Eagles are knocking down your door to get you on staff :)

Waters was AA last season so I don't know what you are thinking there. The others are all contracted, you can't just cut contracted players without paying them out, and we have this thing called the salary cap to think about.

Kerr played well in games last year. Supporters would have been screaming if they cut him last year! People are still saying he should be played, despite clearly being injured/ unfit.
It is easy to know all the answers in hindsight. What's happened this year is a s**t load of injuries in the area of the ground where we can least afford to have injuries.

Most weeks we have had four or five changes to the team, it is very hard to get any sort of continuity when this happens.

It's disappointing, but we suck it up, get our players right and hopefully give it a crack next year!
So what your really saying we've had injuries and but our dept list is basically s**t.

Sorry, unlike you, I wont make excuses for bad coaching , bad MC decisions or mis-management of players, ( any half decent coach would of kept A Selwod in the WAFL till he retired for his pathetic performances this year)

Funny but we have become the'old' Freo, and they have become the 'old' West coast, complete roll reversal, and its come down to the coach.
Freo have completely changed as an organization soon as Lyon was appointed, they never make excuses when they loose now,no matter whos out injured, But guess what , Woosha now always makes excuses, its like he's been body snatched by Mark Harvey.
And there will many more years of this ineptness as he will sign for another 3 years very soon.Great.

Has Woosha ever not talked any player up? Hes always got everyone's back. Also makes me scratch my head a lot. There is now a small crater in my head.

I asked you a question. I assumed (based on your post history) that you wouldn't answer it and gave you an out I.e. that you had no idea and were just being a club fanboi ...

You haven't answered the question and then have instead accused me of aggressiveness and then gone a sarcastic passive aggressive attack ....

Would you prefer I use crayon in future?

How about you try answering the question I asked or do you just concede that it'll lead to the obvious outcome suggested in my second question?

It troubles me that you can't see you are being aggressive.

I am saying I don't know everything that is happening at the club. I think you are an in same boat.

I have stated all year that Daniel Kerr knee is stuffed.

We should trade him to GWS who would like his experience for a year to teach there young mids where to go.

Just tell Kerr we wont play him next year, so better of going to GWS for a year.

I love Daniel one of my all time favourites but as a club we owe him nothing where he owes WCE the club plenty.

You sound like you would make a great boss :p

It is a touchy subject, as I can see both sides of the argument regarding trading or keeping, but I believe all champions deserve to finish their career at the club they became champions at.

Seriously though, what are GWS going to give for a bloke that only has one year left in him and struggles to get a game currently for a team that has a **** midfield.

Don't know but Damien Barrett reckons WCE might have suspended Kerr after a Casino scuffle where Kerr got removed from the Casino . I wish someone would remove me from that place when I occasionally go there too .

The West this morning basically said that Kerr was at the Casino with a mate. His mate reacted to some fools having a dig at Kerr. They were asked to leave.
If true, there is nothing at all in that.

I think our young mids need his knowledge more to be honest:(
