"Now there's a rumour that won't go away: Kerr wants to come to Melbourne to resume his association with former teammate and housemate Judd at Princes Park.

The rumour is gathering momentum. Carlton, predictably, is aware of it. So, too, Collingwood; maybe even Essendon.

While Kerr is contracted until after the 2009 season, players determined to go elsewhere have a healthy rate of success."

With rumours beginning to surface in regard to his playing future at the Eagles, would he fit in at bomberland in 2009 and beyond? Would we want him in our side ahead of the youth that we are trying to build into stars of our own?

If he's available then we should definetly have a look. Only issue is what is it going to cost us to get him. I would have a feeling West Coast are going to want something substantial for him (Ryder, Gumbelton etc.) and i wouldn't be prepared to loose them.

They are just rumours. Every big name player nearing the end of a contract will be linked to join another club during the year.

Mike obviously needed some filler for his West Coast story and just threw that in.

West Coast will just fall apart if he leaves. I reckon if he leaves, then Cox will leave.

Yeah, if Cox goes, Glass will follow, then Wirrpanda will head back to Victoria because he's home sick, then Hurn and Waters might go back to SA.

He's still contracted until the end of 2009. His contract will be sorted out at the end of the year, if they can't agree to the terms, we'll trade him. Pretty simple.

If he does want to come down to victoria, we should do everything we can to secure him. They'll probably have their eyes on Daniel Rich so im sure we could give them a low pick along with a player so that they could trade that along with their low pick to try and secure him.

All we could offer them are picks though, as I very much doubt they'd want any of our players that we'd be willing to give away.

Yeah it would be great to grab him, but mind you if this is all true then i think that Carlton have already got their slimy hands on him just like the deal with Judd was done before he mentioned any clubs. Its just a smokescreen guys, Carlton will live up to their name tankers and get him :(

I don't think they would be prepared for you to loose them either.

We would have to trade Gumby or Ryder. he would be great but I don't think it would be worth it.

Gumby has had injury toubles and is yet to really show it at AFL level. We have Ryder who might play forward later on, Daniher, Neagle, and such.

Meanwhile Kerr is one of the best midfielders in the competition, exactly what we need in the team and lack.

I wouldn't trade Ryder of course, but I think we could lose Gumbleton if we had to.

Of course I'd prefer not to, but if it came down to it.

I know Kerr is a great player and if he was available i'd definitely want us to go after him but i wouldn't think of trading Gumby or Ryder.
We shouldn't have to. Think about it West Coast already have Kennedy and Mitch Brown who look like taking up the CHF and CHB back positions. What West Coast really lack is a player who can break lines through the midfield or play as a fast forward. We would be far better off trading a player such as Lovett (plus a first round pick) rather than trading a player that we can't do without.

No way should we trade either Gumbleton or Ryder.

Potential Elite KPP >>> Elite Midfielder

Potential is far far over-rated. So are KPPs in the modern game. Look at the last few teams to win the grandfinal. Geelong and West Coast were/are built on the midfield. A good midfield improves the whole team. And it only takes one or two players to improve a midfield out of sight.
