Daniel Kerr

Probably had the most possessions for a 13 disposal game you are likely to see.

People need to put away their iPhone Dream Team apps and watch the game.

Clearly identified as priority number 1 by the Swans and didn't have a metre of space for 4 quarters.

Without him in the side we'd end up with Shuey in the same boat and someone like Dalziell pushing for the last midfield spot...

He is fit, its just that he is not as fit as everyone else.

Youd give him a couple of games to find his feet, after the break he should be pretty up to speed. All though we have seen with guys like Cox last year that if they dont get a pre=season they never get to full fitness in the year.

If he's fit, then there's no excuses. That means he was below par. If he's not fit/enough, he shouldn't have played.

Kerr can find match fitness for East Fremantle. That way, he won't need to be carried in the meantime. Kerr at East Freo means WC could've gave an opportunity to another. Such opportunities seemingly aren't going to be easy for the younger midfielders (Stevens & Swift) to get this year with Woosha's coaching career on the line, and the seeming auto selections of Kerr, Priddis and A.Selwood.

Dalziell is a wingman. He isn't in consideration as a replacement for Kerr's role. Swift and Stevens on the other hand though...
Dalziell would be in contention for a wingman's role if they moved Embley into the guts. But even then, I think Gaff would start before Dalziell got a game.

How about I put it this way then..

He is fit enough.

He just needs time to adjust to the pace of AFL football coming from the WAFL level and also the increased pressure of the game since he last played.

I very much doubt Kerr is considered the 21st man though. Such a nonsense call helps your reasoning though.

Are you saying that Kerr's worth is to make the game 20 on 20 rather than 21 on 21. If so, Kerr is being misused, as the quality difference between Kerr and the tagger put on him means WC will certainly always lose out.

WC could have played a fully fit midfielder instead of giving Kerr a run despite being underdone. Kerr offered up **** on toast. He got amongst it at times, but delivered little. That's real.

Thats not real, its the comment of a inadequate poster who really has a poor understanding of the game and where Daniel Kerr is at.

There's not many players in the afl that have a good second game up, after a long lay off.

Your probaly one of those idiots that expect players from a knee reco to perform at there best straight away.

Go get get clue, and annoy someone else, **** me why straight after a game do the flog posters come out ?

Your comment is one of a self righteous tosser who has played the man and not the comment. Go back to sucking on mummy's booby and cry a river somewhere else, loser.

Aaaand that's enough of that.

Didn't think there was anything wrong with the way Kerr played.

Sure he could have been more influential, but his commitment is still there, as are the signs that he still has an elite ability. Thought a few more calls could have gone his way also, was being held off the ball a lot.

Really don't understand why the AFL continues to allow the swans to break the rules of the game and play outside the spirit of the game.

While he's fit enough to play, he doesn't have match fitness. This is holding him back as it is central to his game, he doesn't have enough strength through the core and a reduced ability to run off the tag. Still, he was not our worst player. Not only did he still get a few possies each quarter, he took the number one tagger and consistent attention from another player backing Jack up. This frees up the other midfielders to get the clearance when Kerr is double teamed. Plus takes the best tagger off a young midfielder. Remember Murphy getting slammed all the time before that old bald guy went to Carlton??

Kerr will get better. Certainly not done. If he is playing like this in R15+ though, then I will start to think his next contract will be for low $$ and low years.

Kerry is going to be a very sore boy today. He got crunched every time he touched the ball. Sydney are so good with their tackling pressure, he just had no where to go...

I still have faith in D. Kerr. :thumbsu:

I should probably clarify. I wasn't really having a go at Kerr because I know he is just coming back.

My issue is with how we played him. When you watch other teams having their quality player getting tagged to death the coach tries to release him in other ways. Jack is a qualitytagger AND a super clearance player. I saw no advantage in matching up our best player with him at each bounce. We should have utilised Kerr elsewhere throughout the game.

Just my opinon.

Kerr needs to mix up his style a bit. He tries to be the bulldozer all the time, and so, is too easily shut down. He needs to look for / create space more often as Cousins used to do - slip out the back door or run around the contest and not always be under it.

I don't think Kerr is ready to trust his hamstrings enough to play the outside player atm. You can see he just isn't attempting to push himself to the limits when he has to chase and tackle. Doesnt want to overstretch himself.

Will be at least another couple of months before he is back to his best.

it does seem pointless having a classy player out there just getting pummeled for the entire game, apart from soaking up a tag or two..think i read somewhere he's being used for his in+under attributes for awhile, suggesting a cautious approach to the string-ping factor ..but hope he mixes it up a bit,or gets moved forward for spells, and doesnt end his career as a battering ram!?

also, does seem a top heavy midget these days..a bit overbulked - a leaner kerr could be a good thing?

Daniel Kerr has not got his leg strength back yet fully.
When he does - watch out !!!

The first quote answers the second one.

Kerr has yet to regain his strength and confidence in his "swervability" as Go Eagles puts it.:thumbsu:

Untill he regains that power and confidence Kerr will struggle running 'crazy subtle angles' and get caught a fair bit, like the weekend.:(

Healy posed the $1,000,000 question, why don't we use him deep forward for spells, he has the skills and his oppoent loves holding onto him illegally.
