Once again Dan has been mention or writtain about in one of those 'hidden gems at your club' or 'could be the surprise' I swear he's has been mentioned in these articles every year and surely this year he will show us what he can do at the next level

Recruited from Macedon/Calder Cannons, 189cm, 84kg, yet to debut
The Saints might have picked up some exciting youngsters recently but all things going to plan, it won't just be new additions making their senior debuts in 2015. Supporters will be familiar with the sight of Markworth running laps and training away from the group, given the highly-touted forward has had to overcome a knee reconstruction, minor complications from that and then a big hamstring tear this season since being drafted in 2011. With strong hands, speed and an ability to play both on the wing and at half-forward, Markworth has been given another season to show that with a change of luck, he can translate his promising VFL form from 2012 into an impact at AFL level. - Jennifer Phelan

Here's what the 2015 Champion Data Prospectus had to say about Markworth:

Collected 12 disposals in all but one of his 9 VFL games, with a season high of 21.

His kicking let him down, recording the worst disposal efficiency of any St Kilda listed player (48.5%).

Thought I'd chuck it in here, but hasn't Markworth transformed his body this preseason!

I didn't recognise him in the training photo of him taken today.

Yeah I saw him next to Roo and DM looks massive!!! Hopefully he's right to play out the whole season....

I was trying to work out who that was - thought it was Goddard - he looks huge - hopefully he is ready to go this year

Agree, looks like a completely different person! The photo next to Roo and also the one today next to Saad (on Saints fb). It's like he has gone from a boy to a man over the break! Is this his first full preseason or did he get a full one in last year? I'm literally in shock, would love a before and after shot if anyone had those skills.

I think he had a full and possibly even extended preseason last year, unless he sustained an injury during it that I don't remember.

Are they talking about Markworth? He did his knee in Colorado or wherever they went for their camp in the US.

That was the year/preseason before. He then did the rehab and was back to doing a lot of training before the end of the 2013 season (including doing some training with Trevor Hendy, or whoever), so I think he would have been well and truly ready for the start of the 2014 preseason and unless he got an injury during that that I don't remember (which he may have) then he likely did the whole preseason last year.

Markworth looks in great nick. Would love to see him cement a spot in the side on a HFF as he adds a completely different look to the forward line. The following set up could be pretty dangerous:

Markworth Reiwoldt Templeton
Saad White Membrey

Now that is a flexible forward line. You have pace, serious pace. Saad, Markworth, White & Templeton is a quick forward line. You have aerial threats in Reiwoldt, White & Membrey. Additionally Markworth's combo of pace and height could make him an awkward match up potentially resulting in him getting the 4th tallest defender who he is likely to have a significant height advantage over. You also have crumbing potential (something we missed big time last year) with both Saad and Templeton a threat on the ground.

Finally, you have 3 guys in Markwoth, Templeton and Membrey that could rotate further up the ground. This would allow Billings, Steven & occasionally Montagna to rest forward. These 3 would bring the class factor. There are a lot of unknowns with that forward line, but it looks pretty good on paper at least.

As I'm sure most of you are aware, finally so,e good news looks like Dan will be pack by round 9. Therefor maybe he'll be back playing just after the bye. Hopefully, hopefully touch wood, pray to God do anything under the son to provide this bloke with some luck and some senior opportunity.

More positivity for Dan http://m.saints.com.au/news/2015-04-17/window-open-for-luckless-saint

“Initially I thought I was out for the year, which was devastating,” Markworth told SAINTS.com.au.

Days after mistiming a tackle on Dunstan and following media reports that ruled him out for the season, Markworth received a lifeline from Tim Barbour, St Kilda’s club doctor.

“He called me and told me that there was a chance they could do a different procedure,” he said.

“You could argue its ambitious, however it is realistic as the surgery went really well, I’m tracking really well and it’s giving me the chance to get back mid-year which is great.”

Markworth has been told he won’t be on the senior list next season but could be rookie-listed, depending on what happens in the trade period.

He is out of contract and looking for an opportunity elsewhere.

The 23-year-old battled serious hamstring and shoulder problems and suffered a knee reconstruction at the end of 2012.

Markworth tore his anterior cruciate ligament on an altitude camp in Colorado.

He has finished the season with Sandringham in the VFL, kicking seven goals from nine games this year, and will target a full preseason.

St Kilda football manager Jamie Cox said in March Markworth was “a talented footballer” after dislocating his shoulder at training in March.

“Daniel is a talented footballer with enormous character who has had a wretched run with injuries and deserves a bit of luck,” Cox said.

“Frustratingly each of his injuries have been isolated incidents and not related to each other.”

23 not a youngster?
More like a toddler in my eyes!
Yeah, but in football terms. It's hardly like he's a 19yo that we dumped after a year on the rookie list.

Cant believe this. Blokes like this deserve patience. None of his injuries are linked. Had a decent shot at preseason before his shoulder injury. Really needed another preseason.
Theres alot more id get rid of before him....

Would like to see Markworth given one more year to prove his body's up to it. Realistically though, he's 24 just before the start of next season.

Would have to be at least 27-28 by the time he hits 50 games (barring playing every single game to that point).
