Yeah, real concern that this is going to come true exactly as you've written it out and nobody will give you the credit for predicting it.
McStay is too slow for defence, isn't he? I think Checkers would be the one if we felt we had to move one of them back.

Most teams play a key forward slow enough for McStay to play on them. But that situation is not coming to pass.

West isn't going to earn and hold a spot in the best 22 for a top of the ladder team in his first year.

I won't accept any credit , only because my history of predictions is starving.
Some of my howlers include
  • Grundy as a permanent tall forward
  • Maynard as a permanent inside mid (could've worked but never happened)
  • Moore as a permanent ruck
But with Moore out, I reckon McStay down back is worth a go.

It'd be a break glass option, but for the first time in a while we've got options to enable it - both midfield and forward. Jordy has become a luxury player that we could use whereever best suited the balance of the team. We don't need Checkers to have a good forward line anymore.

I honestly think McStay would be a serviceable defender...though he's currently ranked in the top 10 for contested marks and our forward line is the most potent it's been in years. You don't mess with that form.

I would swing him down back if we have an injury during the game or if we're defending a lead. Otherwise leave him up forward. He's ability to crash packs has been huge for us.

Don’t **** with the forward line that’s working well together. Howie can play the roving Moore role and bring someone else back on a flank.
They won't - it'll just be Houston back into defence and Perryman stays in defence with a couple of role changes. Done

Then Membrey and Sullivan back in for Cox and Allan.

Neither Mihocek nor McStay will be moving to defence. It’s been proven we are hard to beat with both up forward. We are top of the ladder and would be best served continuing to play these blokes in their best positions.

Agree although this will be plan B if one is needed there. We have stacks of fire-power up forward.

How is McStay? Just heard on commentary that they will need to do scans on his knee and concerns about him needing surgery again.
Surely not :(

This would actually kill our chances for the flag.

Structurally the second most important player after Moore.

How good is drama? Love it.

Melodrama is even better.

I knew there would be one who can't read, the word 'structurally' went straight through you and means nothing, it's not the same as simply 'the most important'.
I reckon he was referencing the first part of your post. 😉
