How long does it take to find proper form after a reco?

Care to think back about wojo, kelly, hunt etc.

There is tons and tons of history on this. I can't believe you guys are being so blind to it. It's like being on 17 and asking the dealer for another card.

So, so stupid.

Seriously mate, give it a rest. Unrelated to his other knee. Of course there are cases of somebody doing the other knee. As there are lots that don't do the other knee. Or do the same one again. It's purely coincidental. Instead of finding somebody to blame, just support the player and club.

So he had lars then.................different knee i know

Absolute shocking as he reminded me of a young Stevie J

No, he had traditional, which is why I said at xmas he was too far ahead of schedule.

Kel broke his leg.

VC - you make Suzi Olsen look like Stephen Hawking. The speed of recovery on Menz right knee impacts the structural integrity of his left knee how?

BTW - do you sit out the front of your house in a rocking chair and try to whack kids with a walking stick? While asking them to sit on your lap?

Club unsure as to extent of the injury but have confirmed that it was the left knee not the right knee he had the reco on

‏@CatsInsider
Just to repeat. Menzel is his left knee but extent still to be confirmed.

Yeah I know kelly did his leg.
I'm just gutted Tex.

I was going to post in the pre game thread that I had a bad feeling about Menz this week. But I didn't want to post it in case I put the Moz on him :(

Unbelievable bad luck.

Would have to be just about the first time that has ever happened, bloke comes back from a knee and does the opposite knee first game back. Incredible.

On a side note, with yet another serious knee injury I would just like to congratulate the genius' at AFL Headquarters who decided to willingly tarnish the structure of the game that has existed for 120 years by concocting the ludicrous sub- rule to limit high impact injuries. Really working so far guys

Love to see that so- called 'research' that suggested it would work. Yet another victory for knee jerk reactions.

Re: Menzel injures knee again

I friggin said it at xmas that he was too far ahead in his rehab.
Yep it's the other knee.

But for gods sake there is 20 years of history on how long it takes to come back from an ACL.

Bloody stupid by club and player.

As somebody with some experience in dealing with LT leg injuries, that's often how it goes. Your other leg ends up being weaker as a result of compensating for the injured leg for a long period of time.

Really sucks for Menzel and the Cats. Love watching the kid play. Hopefully he gets lucky and it's not as serious as is feared.

Terrible news. I've had a bit to do with him since his first injury last year.... genuinely nice kid. Spoke with him on Thursday and he was excited to be back out there. I know there's been some angst in this thread, but he felt ready, the medicos felt he was ready... unfortunately, this same thing has happened to many players before him. He could've waited until Round One next season and still done it.

Best wishes to him! :thumbsu:

Just thought id share my disappointment, Daniel is a fantastic player and I was really looking forward to him getting a game towards the end of the season. Have to say I know how it feels, with Jack Ziebell breaking his leg twice in two seasons, was shattering at the time, but I'm sure Menzel will be able to bounce back just as Jack has. Goodluck!

Thanks for that.

Shatter for Menz. Almost want to cry.

I did my knee at 15 playing footy. Did another one at 16. Came back from the second, reco and did it for a third time it in the first quarter of the first practice game back. (I know this is different with Menzel injuring his opposite knee).

To go through all the rehab that many times and not even get to really play is devastating. Also difficult to have any confidence in the knee. Mentally very challenging.

Won't know results until Monday.....could be similar to Nathan Brown of Collingwood.

Just pure speculation as to extent of injury, still, you would have loved him to have a solid hitout and get through unscathed.
