I will say this. This bloke has out the work into his lower body. When he was out there before he went off, his lower body definition was awesome. I know you can over train etc but he looked very very fit

do you think he is carrying a bit of upper body bulk in comparison to the legs?
It sounds like you think he's put more work into the legs

From the few shots I've seen of him lately he's put on size, arms and shoulders, so could be 3-5 kg heavier than a year ago.
The more weight the more stress, but if the rehab is done there shouldn't be any issues, as long as they lift the load sensibly over time. They obviously understand that.
Gee, I hope he's available early on in the season, would add heaps to the forward structure, he's built like a wrecking ball.

He seemed stronger in the lower body, but his upper body was more defined than previously observed.

Go catters

I just wanna see Menz running around in the hoops doing what he does in the year 2017 rather than have him be ahead of schedule and in contention RD1 of 2013, the slower the better :thumbsu:
He was at the Cremorne pub the other night putting a few on the geegees. Looked fit a firing and is a pretty big unit. I have said it before but I do like the way the Geelong people just leave thes kids alone when they are out and about. Apart from me who was trying to get my early 20's daughter to chat him up!

There's a word for people like that!:D

The question is did he do it because of some weakness or did he do it because he doesnt trust the knee (the old "if you dont put in 100% you will get injured" theory)?

Menz had surgery on the damaged knee Friday, sounds like it went well and won't set him back to far, sorry couldn't post the link.

UPDATE:
Geelong forward Daniel Menzel recently strained his reconstructed knee during a training session.

After consulting his surgeon, Menzel underwent an arthroscopic procedure on the knee on Friday. The surgery confirmed a strain to the reconstructed ligament that was subsequently repaired.

"We are encouraged by the fact that there is no significant damage to Daniel's knee," Geelong's general manager of football Neil Balme said.

"Whenever there is an issue with a previously signifiant injury there are concerns that the damage could be serious, but we have been reassured that this is not a major setback.

"The surgeon repaired the strained area and we do not believe this will significantly delay Daniel's return to the game."

Its a worry isnt it.....
Please be ok Menzel, please go on and have a successful career, please dont do an Egan...

Trying to convince myself this incident is a good thing.
The brain understands - though the heart is struggling with it.

It obviously wasn't corrected rightly, so this may well have saved him from another major.
I trust all is now perfectly well with the knee, and this has been the final glitch.

All the best to him, and may the knee settle quickly.

You have to think, sadly, that any further issues could be bad. Normally Im pretty 1/2 full but having seen him training, and then to go down fairly innocuously, it's a bit worrying.

I, as would everyone, would be clearly devastated if this became an Egan type situation. The one thing you can be sure of however, is that the club will give this EVERY precaution and time to heal and not push it in any way.

Go Menzel......

am confident he's all good now :thumbsu:

take it slow and easy and he should be fine.
May have been the strain that was needed as it could have saved him from doing it near finals time.

Don't like it needing to be operated on again so soon but I guess now is the time still 3 months out from season. He deserves some luck.

Just feel for the guy and sincerely hope this doesn't play too much on his mind going forward.
No need to rush him but obviously a concern he has caused this from a relatively innocuous incident.
Maybe Veedubs can comment - best result if something wasn't 100% from the operation?

The boy will be fine as long as he doesn't do his ACL again!
Relax people its only minor surgery and his deadline for playing NAB cup hasn't changed!
Better for issues to happen now rather than the start of the season.

I remember when i was coming back from a knee reco i tweaked it one night at training seriously thought i had done it again as there was a noise, anyway it blew up like a baloon and was pretty sore and i was back 2 weeks later, never had a problem after that. So i guess it happens nothing to much to worry about.

how did you go when it came to fitness and sports (if you played any after the injury?)
Did you feel as though you had lost some strength or flexibility in the knee?

Good question. I did lose a bit of flexibility which effected my leap. But everyone is different, my graft was done very tight whcih helped its strength but did effect its flexibility a bit. Strength is not an issue because as part of your rehab you put so much time into strengthening your knee. As i have said before i reckon it did take me half a season to get my full confidence back, but then again i wasnt a professional. But i played for a good 7 or 8 years after it and it never gave me a problem. They do them pretty good these days and are often stronger than before.
