In my opinion he is the pick of the Cats recent draftees and will go on to be an absolute star for the club. He reminds me of a mixture of Stevie J and Boris Enright. Has an enourmous amount of class, poise and vision and plays like a 50-100 game player already and doesnt seem overawed out on the field. I love the fact that he can play back or forward and more importantly hes disposal is very neat and generally hits a target. An absolute star in the making.

Think Scott agrees with you - looks like he played him HFF, HBF and Wing at various times. Uses it so well.............

Think he's gonna be a ripper.
Prefer him over Duncan (who's a gun also).
 
A good kid on the improve. Don't quite see the Stevie J in him but he is a Boris with a bit more versatility.
Speaking of Enright he was very good yesterday doing all the steady stuff and because he was so safe he failed to get much of a mention.

Menzel and Duncan still favorites to provide the impetus we need to improve.

The way he moves when around goal and the way he seems to find himself in the right position at the contest remind me of Stevie J. I think it was the Carlton game last year where he snagged 3 with nice polish and skill and also possesses the ability to kick the freakish goal.
Enright is an absolute star and love the bloke. will never get the kudos he deserves but is rarely beaten and seems to be getting better with age.
 
Who were the posters who said we needed to settle on our expectations of him last year ........?

Personally I see more of Stevie J in Duncan with his ability to chip in and score goals. But I am agreed that both Menzel and Duncan have good skills.

I see Duncan more as an outside player, atleast until he thickens up a bit. He would suit the Wing or forward flank but not physically up to it yet for the centre.

Actually Menzel seems to me to be a hybrid of Jimmy Bartel and Andrew Mackie.
 
Menzel and Duncan both have good composure and ability to find space which really impresses me. I think we have 2 gems on our hands early days and a few more youngers seem to have a lot of upside. Circa 2003 maybe.

Too early to tell. Can we remember 2001? Kelly was the standout IMO. Bartel and Ablett both looked good but Kelly was my fav. Now since then Ablett developed into a player beyond all reasonable expectations and Bartel has become probably our best ever utility player in my time watching the Cats.


If we can be debating whether Duncan, Menzel, Guthrie or Smedts is the best 10 years time we will have been very fortunate followers of the Blue and White

He has won a b&f and is a dual all Australian if I'm correct so there's a little bit of kudos there. But yes agreed enright is a weapon..

Menzel looks like a rocket too from what I've seen... Jeez central districts keep churning them out
 
What I like about Menzel is he seems to have time....and that's a very good thing!
 
I see Menzel and Duncan as the perfect Enright and Corey replacements respectively, as they will be rising to their peak as the old guard is fading from theirs.

I'm very optomistic about this years draftees and even our rookie picks, Burbury is a sleeper amongst the new group didn't see him on Sunday but I believe he's in the GHS mould, freaky at the level he played at.

Add these guys to Menzell, Duncan, Motlop and Hunt and we're looking good midsize.

Didn't spot our only key post tall selection, Josh Walker, is he OK, not injured I hope.
 
If Menzel, Mots, Dunc and T Hunt, thats 4 pretty dam good young players around the same age. Smells a little of 2001. 2011 is an exciting season for us Cats fans, so good to be written off!!

Actually, I think Enright has won 3 All-Australian selections now. Just an absolute gun. So reliable.

Agree...definitely has talent but still has little things like that to work on.

Very much rate both him and Duncan, along with the Poodle. Oh and Motlop. If only we could give Motlop a shoulder taken from a terminator robot thing. Then I'd rate him the best of the lot.

AND GUTHRIE!!.... him and Horlin-Smith impressed me.

Hopefully Vardy will make it also, and we can get to see him run around.

You really can't knock the NAB cup for an opportunity for supporters to get over excited on potential ay?
 
Id like to see Menzel played through the middle this week, i think he could turn into a Goddard like utility. Similar shape, and im hoping for the same sized heart!

It will be interesting to see where the cats play him this year and what position they see him settling into in the future.

Seriously, 08 was great too, if Motlop and Brown can get terminator robot bodies like I said. 09 we smashed it, and this year's looks good already (love Guthrie and GHS). After the 07 draft being a downer (Harry aside), we've done very well to build our future these last three years.
