You aren't even close to the situation we found ourselves in. You have had approx a week's notice that Watts wants to go to St Kilda only. If St Kilda rate him your two clubs have plenty of time to seek a reasonable one on one trade, a two way trade, whatever. Not flash, but far better than what we copped.
We had approx an hour after Stevens and his manager declared he'd only go to Collingwood. And Collingwood, forewarned, offered us nothing but players they would have otherwise delisted.

.....if Carlton can get him for zilch they'll laugh at us.......

That's if Carlton even want him. Or if any of the cellar dwellars do. It will be interesting to see what his value is on the open market if you don't deal with the Saints.

Carlton wouldn't want a KPP just turned 20 who has done his 2 year apprenticeship, and WILL play AFL next year? When they can nab him for absolutely nothing?

I think you'd be surprised what Watts true value on a completely open market would be.

Choppy left us to go home... while the club is interested in him I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole despite him still being one of my favourite players. I think when you part company in that manner it is better not to revisit the past.

I'm sure that if the Roos do their homework properly, they won't spend 2 minutes contemplating a trade for Pickett. Choppy's decline this year has nothing to do with on-field activities.

As Neil Kerley said on 5AA tonight, if he continues burning the candle at both ends the way he is, he doesn't have another year of footy in him.

After Pickett's most recent report Choco said that the tribunal was making Choppy unemployable.

Sadly, Choppy is right on the verge of being exactly that, but more related to his off-field activities than the tribunal.

I'm happy to qualify that. Watts may not be the only decent grab in the PSD, and in the clubs in line to grab the best bargains he may not be their first choice.

Fair call but all the possible PSD candidates are either getting signed up or there appers to be an amicable agreement where the trade will get done and all parties are happy.

At this point in time, the Fergus situation is FAR FAR from being anywhere near sorted and when you consider who his manager is then the chances of it actually panning out in amicable manner are decreasing by the day.

Sadly yes. If he can't see that and sort himself out he has had it. Port's problem and any other club that took him on now would be insane.
