I have stopped reading my own thread............ pi** off you West Coast morons unless you have something constructive to say. And same goes for the Dockers fans that are carrying on.

Depending on which stats you look at, Rich is either listed at 186cm or 181cm, either way I think this guy is nearly the complete midfielder and in my opinion, is as good(at draft age) as ANY player ever drafted bar none!

Looking at him in the U18's standing next to others like Palmer and Masten and he pretty much looked the same height or maybe had a cm or 2 on them.

wouldn't matter whoever finishes 16th, the No 1 draft pick will be a WA kid, but his name's not daniel rich

If we had it and we keep Warnock i think his name would be rich actually. Unless we decided to take Natnui and use Warnock as bait to get a pick for Rich.

The place that has him listed at 186 is probably wrong but 181 sounds about right and it would make him a touch taller than Masten and Palmer, as you said.

There's nothing wrong with 181 by the way. It's just that to be the greatest draft pick of all time you'd want to be a tall mid at 187+.

Might as well get the ball rolling on this kid straight away.
Harvey, Lloyd, Schwab etc put your heads together now and find us a way to keep this kid in WA and put him in purple.
Would look very nice running around along side of Palmer and underneath the feet of Warnock for the next 10 years.
I cant see us finishing anywhere hear a position that would allow us to select him so depending on how Mundy, Murphy, Crowley etc go this year i can see them all being offered as bait to get us a top 2 pick.

My only hope is that Warnock is not invovled anywhere.

Yep, Wizard, this kid is an absolute beauty. There are a few around this year though, Yarran, Naitanui and apparently Swift aren't too far behind. 16/17yo kicking 3/4 in the WAFL GF is not too bad. Haven't seen Swift, but I look forward to seeing some of him this year.

I'd give up what I had to, bar 2 or 3 untouchables, to get this kid though. Hopefully he stays in WA and it doesn't mean both teams have had crap years!

Doesn't look as unrealistic as first though unfortunately.
If we get say pick 4-5 we could package that with someone for pick 2 and then we have the boy.
i think the weagles will get pick 2 so there is no chance in them giving that up to us, i reckon we are better off sucking up to melbourne and getting there pick 1

We just need to hang on onto our ____ing picks, end of story. If we hold onto our picks we seem to have the team in place to pick up decent players. No more trading picks. Trade FOR picks.

If Carl-tank wouldn't trade Pick 1 for Judd, i doubt we'll get pick 1 off Melbourne. Though with Cuddles in charge they might swap Pick 1 for Warnock and someone else which would be a steal.

im pretty sure richy is 185 cms. hes a fair size and has one hell of a kick he reminds me of the next M.Murphy accept this guys probably tougher and has more experience against me (ready made) and his kick on opinion is probably a touch better.

They are very similar though and he should be the number 1 draft pick

we would probably have to give our first rounder, warnock and maybe a late one. Who else in the side thats from melbourne and could want to go home.

Look we can talk about this kid all you like but there is no way he will be available to Freo. At the rate they are going West Coast are a chance (which ____ me no end because you know they will be back again next year with this kid helping because they are not total crud just playing that way ATM).

Melbourne have already stated very clearly they will not trade their picks away, trade for picks only.

Personally I think Melbourne will end up getting Warnock off us for bugger all (#1 PSD pick up their sleeve) and then with Warnock as the new ruckman take Rich with their #1 pick. That would leave Naita to WC at this stage.

If we are going to rise again in 2009 it will be with the youngsters we have plus what is available to us in draft picks. Trade for picks and get what we can of young talent but forget about getting Naita or Rich.

How about we take the picks we've got and take the best available, once we've secured Warnock, Bell and McManus have retired, and Browne and Webster are delisted?
Haselby is back next year, there's a ready made mid
Get another midfielder or two without giving away the farm, look for a small forward, a full back and another key forward, although if Mourish keeps going he could be the one here.

If they think Spud and a few others can't cut the mustard, trade them for picks and get the best kids we can.

Couldn't agree more with this, The drafting by the club over the last 2 years or so has been top notch. The draft isn't only 2 deep....

We just need to make sure we draft "best available" - not we "need this type of prototype footballer" that has gotten us into trouble in the past. Get the best available and leave it at that.

Great post!!!:thumbsu:

Strongly agree!!

If Warnock wants to go, then that puts a different light on things.

That do's Lach,

As there would be more than one club that would go for him,
a first rounder could be on the cards leaving us with 2.

But i would prefer the big fella to stay and just keep the one first rounder.

While I like Warnock, and he will be very good for us, I don't think he will pull a first rounder, if he wants to go.

I only think this because he would attract more than one clubs attention,

Collingwood gave up pick 10 for Wood who do you think is a better prospect Lach?

A club like maybe the Bulldogs may prefer to offload there 1st rounder to have a crack at the flag next year.

Unless you guys finish botom 2(highly unlikely) you won't be able to get Rich, Maybe Freo will be looking at someone like Yarren? or Swift??

I'm guessing your recruiters will be wanting a midfielder(with your first pick) considering your KPP stocks are pretty good?
