Five or six players will have to go at the end of the year. Only two of those will be retirements. We have no more Walkers Halls Fannings or Clokes to delist - no "easy choices" they are all likely to be tough decisions.

Unfortunately for a player like Danny Stanley, he'll have this year and this year only to prove himself. He'll be battling with other youngsters like Iles, Toovey, Davies and Cook to avoid the chop. If they all perform, fantastic, we have a huge future, and the delisting blowtorch turns to O'Bree Licuria Richards Lockyer and Davis.

Thats the reality of things. Nobody's writing him off, but he's the backmarker and giving away a big headstart to everybody else.

How could you delist Lica, Richards, Lockeyer or Davis? They are key players in our team yes it's hard to delist players but I don't think they would be up for Chopping Board.

Exactly my point. Players like Stanley, Davies, Cook etc are going to have to play blinders this year to force the older players out, otherwise it will be them who might get the chop.

We have no clear cut deadwood to clear IMO. Our chopping list IMO is Cox, Davies, Stanley, Cook, Nicholls. All of them are a "handy" season away from being kept though unlike our old duds like J.Cloke, Walker, Kinnear, Shacks, Nixon, Lokan, Morrison, Hall where we knew they were gone before the season start.

what is the mimimum number to delist in any given year. with retirements which could be 3 then maybe 2 others traded or chopped. i would say maximum 5 next draft time. we cannot keep turning over 8 players a season or 10 like some people want that is a recipe to finish low every year

I don't know if Dermie is any measure, but he was raving about him and looking forward to seeing him play. Does he know something we don't.

I really haven't seen him play and can only go on what everyone is saying, but lets hope he comes on, we really do need all players to be 'top of the range'

No, there's plenty on our list already to potentially replace these guys in a future midfield- we're in a pretty good position on that.

Clarke, Egan, Thomas, Pendlebury, H Shaw, R Shaw, Dikk, Toovey, Goldsack, Davis, Nicholls, Medhurst, plus Swan Holland Didak OBree Johnson and Holland.

AND Licuria, Lockyer, Burns, Buckley still playing............

Nicholls is a rookie. Even if we chop him that does not create a spot. In fact we'd have to chop an extra player if we want to promote him.

He has only just turned 19.
He is still very young.

I would like to know what everyone thought of Scott Burns when he was only 19.

And remember Burns was a very high pick....92 from memory(could be wrong...but thereabouts)

Stanley was pick 21 in 2005.

He must have been a fairly good player at junior level.

I think, let him get older, fill out a bit, more VFL experience and you never know...he my just surprise everyone.

I hope he forces his way into the line-up this year... from sources i have heard he is a take-no-prisoners type player and hopefully a 200 game player!!!
