Good ol Melbourne supporters. We go down the same route every year - doesn't it get a touch boring fellas? Sack him, do this, do that etc. Could it be down to one factor - our side isn't as great as we make it out to be?

Some things cannot be taught, and while I am not defending Daniher, I think it's the players who need to have a good, hard look at themselves. When the game is on the line, they go completely to water. They go soft, don't man up and allow easy shots on goal - how can we blame Danners for that? He can only coach them.

It would be nice if Danners was more creative, sure, but he isn't the main one to blame here. It's the players, who play slack, lazy arrogant football.

A bit like our game plan, same thing every year. If you really look at the club, our list, we have loads of talented young onballers so the question one has to ask is why we drafted four more when our defence is ********e and our forward line needs more oomph.

That has to be the role of the coach to demand the players to suit his game plan. And if the players are lazy then clearly there is an issue between the coaching staff and players. The coach will have to go as the side is and has gone nowhere under the current coach. And that does say something about the coach rather than players, especially when you look at the players playing now and who was playing when ND first started.

It is funny how Yze cops all the blame. Whealen (lazy), Ward (efforts down back were pathetic) and Carroll (really isn't the future) in my mind just haven't put in at all. Pickett has been a disapointment, Miller crap, Neitz unable to hurt the opposition on the scoreboard, Moloney lazy, Travis Johnstone impact after halftime was crap

Well even before this season started the pressure was always going to be on ND this is his 9th year at the club and if we dont make the GF oe a PF he should go. He has had plenty of time and it is time to give someone else a go. I still think ND is a good coach but he has run his race at the Dees.

Who teaches the players to man up?
Their Under 9's coach!

Seriously most of our blokes don't even look half interested in being accountable. What's the point in dragging one lazy prick, when there are 4 just like him on the bench.

It starts with ledership on field & we've got squat!

I agree ND must go but we won't improve until our players get the basics right.

ND isn't a bad coach. He has shown plenty, what you need to ask is why the team isn't responding. The coach has to take responsibility if the players loose interest as coach is supposed to inspire players to become the best. The coach is the real leader, the captain is the on field leader.

So you're saying the both must go?

Both areas are quite obviously lacking.

Sack as many coaches as you like, but we'll still have the same list & it has many deficiencies.

Recruiting onfield leadership is nearly impossible, Richmond tried with Kane Johnson but as good as he is that sums their position up too. Players have to take the step up & lead, not just be part of the leadership group.

Daniher has to take the responsibility but the players are as much to blame. Last week was a case in point. In the first half the players worked hard and showed what they are capable of. The second half they showed a complete lack of heart, interest and discipline.
My main criticism of Daniher is not creating enough competition within the club by dropping players, regardless of name and reputation, if they don't perform or put in. Obviously you don't drop them instantly after 1 bad week (unless it is particularly poor) but players must have to feel the pressure to perform to retain their spot and I don't think there is enough of this within our club. The only safe player should be the skipper, Neitz and possibly Jeff White.

My 2 cents:

I don't mind Neale at all, he took a team which finished last in 97 to the finals in 98 as well as getting a young team to the Grand final in 2000 - Unfortunately to be playing against a generation team in Essendon. He introduced a long kicking, exciting brand of football to the masses when others were introducing floods. Alas the other teams have worked out the gameplan and we have suffered because of the lack of flexibility.

My feelings are that Neale has gone stale at the Dees, and i could see him coaching another team with success down the track. I feel that we are massively underachieving at the moment and it could be a waste of a good young core.

Not calling for blood - yet.

I agree with Klyntonius. He isn't the best on game day but certainly not the worst and the biggest problem is I don't think he is hard enough on players who aren't performing. I'm sure if Yze was dropped it would send a good message to the group.
