As much as id like to get Laidley here to Fremantle I cannot see him leaving the Kangaroos. Hearing him speak yesterday he just loves that club, has a lot of passion for what he does. He was a premiership player with the roos, has a lot of history there.

We need someone like him though. Someone who believes in the playing group, someone who plays the playing group in the correct positions, dont put backman into the forward line and vice versa, be proactive not reactive, coach your own way dont listen to the media, be able to make the hard calls like dropping favourite sons for poor form no matter the reputation.

Last but not least

Have a game plan FFS.

pistol - not wanting to single you out, but I don't get the Laidley obsession at the moment. Sure, if we single out the last 8-10 weeks he looks like a great coach. But we could say the exact same thing about Connolly if we take those 9 weeks from last year in isolation. Laidley's record prior to '07 is average at best - less than 50% winning rate.

I think Connolly is regularly pro-active - go back and watch the game against Melbourne in '05 with Mundy and McPharlin in action. He completley floored Daniher that day. As for dropping players based on form rather than reputation, I'd suggest you take a look at the Roos board over the last 18 months - it was a pretty common complaint made there too (although, you'd more than likely find it on all 16 boards in all honesty).

I think you are being very harsh on Connolly - he couldn't have shown more belief in some of those players. You could argue that that has been his downfall - he has shown too much faith in a few of them.

Laidley may have been at a club with little in resources or facilities, but he is also at a club with an exceptional culture. A culture which was there long before Laidley and that will be there long after he is gone.

Laidley is able to get every little thing out of his whole playing list. He has got them playing for each other, playing for the club, its supporters and they believe in Laidley should be coaching them... They lost 3 games in a row, the talk about Laidley getting sacked started and all of a sudden they run into form and havent looked back since.

I want someone like Laidley to be at the Dockers next year, maybe not dean himself but someone in the same mould.

You're questioning Ben Allan's credentials to be on the selection committee because he is member elected? Que?

Is saying the selection committeee is "little" are you sledging on Budgie?

Even the Board doesn't decide in the end. They only recommend the coach to the WAFC. The sub-committee are the filtering process.

I am asking the question because I am trying to weigh up all the arguments of whether Cuddles will stay or go. I am not 100% convinced he will go and reckon he is better than 50% on for sticking around next year, irrespective of the out come of the season. This will not be a black and white decssion.
