He'll play third tall and zone off, either spoiling or going up for a mark, then on the rebound, act as a link out of defence. Will play a Chad Cornes type role in our defence IMO, our most important defender.

In the first of what I hope will be many slices of humble pie, I'd like to acknowledge Danny's excellent game today - tough, committed and, dare I say it, skillful.

Well done Danny.

Now, apparently I have more pie waiting for me on the "Robbie Campbell" thread.

Terrrific game but didn't Connelly allow him to play to his strengths. They put extra men behind (who floods btw?) the ball to start with then bring the ball forward in such a haphazard way (bomb it, no direction) that a bloke with DJ's ability to read the flight.. made for him.

He is not a champion player by any means but pay him no respect like Freo did today and .. he can be a very damaging footballer.

Top game.

Impressed with his game once again. A quality defender and is vital to our chances this year. Like his courage, and his hands are so sticky.

Smith, Jaccobs are two quality defenders who can play on bigger opponents, we are probably just lack that 1 solid body down back to take the real power forwards if we want to play Croad forward. But some good signs down back, and our defence works really hard for each other.

Yeah played well as he did last year. This won't happen every week though. Smarter sides and dare i say it coaches will not allow him to play lmdb all season. CC the worst coaching display for the year for mine. God damn we look good when we move the ball quicklyu and hit targets by foot. :)

Looked good today.

Glad I picked him for dream team.
Speaking of dream team, what happened to campbell brown? I put him in my team...

Hes not on the injury list, surely he'd be in your best 22.

During Round 20 last season, Matty Lloyd dove into Campbell and struck Brownie's fist with his face. IIRC Campbell won a four week vacation that was spread out evenly over 2005 and 2006 seasons. Should be back round 3 and get a couple of games under his belt before the first matchup of 2006 with the Bombers on the last Sunday in April.

I've always been a big fan of DJ, both at the Bombers and here. Has his limitations, but is a crucial player for us and has beautiful hands.

Slghtly off topic but was I the only a bit concerned at how Dermie announced to all and sundry on Sunday that DJ has been, and is still, playing with a crack in his back? Definately not the sort of thing you'd like opposition coaches and players to be aware of, and coincidental timing given it was Dermie's first commentating duties since the cessation of his official role at the club.

Danny was on fire on the weekend. Looks like hes getting back into his old form, whihc is great to see. and with Goo now at the club, i think danny may be pushing onto the wing abit.
It was also great to see him get straight back up after that mark in the 3rd quater, last year i think he would have had a cry and walked off
