Disgrace, This is why Australian Boxing cannot have nice things

We used to have a blole by the name of Kostya Tszyu who would fight internationally known fighters and generally defending his belt against well i wouldnt say greatest fighters around, but guys who wernt retired 3 years ago or decrepid.

Nowdays we have Green/Mundine putting on fights which are practically decided by the time they hand-pick the next undeserving opponent

It does nothing for Green except rob his "fans" of $$$ and Paul Briggs probably wont be able to show his face in public for a while

Shamefull display all round

When was the last time Green had a fight that wasn't a farce? Never pay or go out of my way to watch that guy fight:thumbsdown:

LOL @ Danielle Green acting the innocent party in all of this. He knew he was going to take a dive. Lets look at the betting odds for a first round knockout

$10 at the TAB at 2pm, $2 with 1 hour too the fight

$12.50 at Betfair at 12pm, $1.50 a minute before the fight

Green could not pay Briggs a cent and it wouldnt matter because he already made his money from the bookies etc. A large betting fluctuation like this would have been told to Green WELL before he stepped into the ring hence why Green was backing off and threw 3 airies to begin the fight. Green should of just postponed the event at 5pm and sent everyone home instead of taking there money like that.

Pair of mugs the BOTH of them. Shouldnt be alloweed to fight in this country again

I have read Brigg's book and wanted him to get back and do well, but talk about ruining any reputation that was already hanging by a thread. Very good and unlucky fighter in his day, but last night will follow him around for a long time. No less than he deserves.

As for Green, he is just as worthy of contempt, if only for the fact that he and his fans like to throw shit at Mundine for nights of far less disgrace that this. I hope it ruins him, too. It should.

So much more to this than meets the eye. Text messaging a mate who knows a bit about boxing and lets just say the trail of evidence is rather long and easy to see.

Paul Briggs is/was flat broke. On the verge of bankruptcy and apparantly some VERY VERY VERY large bets were placed in the underworld (ie. with a non licensed bookie etc). Heads will roll in more ways than one

I guess with the underworld links its a bit harsh to say Danny Green should of postponed the fight. He would of been shot on sight if he even attempted to stop it from going ahead im afraid.

At least Vince McMahon's guys give you value for money.

Danny Green is a paper champion. To think that he actually called out Brock Lesnar for a 'bare knuckle' fight in a UFC cage next year...

As great as it would be to see him get smashed, unfortunately he wouldn't die. Cockroach. Danny if you are really sorry for what happened then you should refund all the money people spent on their tickets/ppv and whatever you have left should be donated to charity.

Last night made it official - George Sotiropolous is Australia's greatest fighter.

Agree re blame being put on Green as well.

Fight someone who thinks he's in with a shot and not someone who needs a final pay day.

Shouldnt of agreed to the fight to begin with yes but as far as postponing it on the day I dont think he really had a choice but to continue, especially with the size of bets and the fact the underworld was heavily involved in all of this.

I think its best if both men are banned indefinetly for now. Theres a good reason Mundine wasnt at the fight or hasnt said anything about it. It was the worst kept secret in boxing im afraid and the shit hit the fan at about 2pm yesterday arvo.

There shouldn't have been a fight. Not sure you have to know much about boxing to know Brigg's is a loose bloke with ties to seedy shit that goes back a fair way. The bloke was one step away from hitman if his book is to be believed.

Aside from all that, he hadn't been in the game for 3 years, was clearly in no physical condition to compete at any stage and Green and his people would have know all of this and shitloads more.

Farce. Green claims to be a champion so deserves the majority of blame.

There's too many titles, weight divisions, and people who don't want to box against boxers who'll give them a run.

Need a national organisation to organise fights etc, but that will never happen.

True in some aspects. Green is still a big dog for organising the fight but when the shit truly hit the fan (7 hours before fighttime) it was probably too late to back out is what im saying

NSW did there job in refusing to sanction the fight. The W.A body would sanction Danny Green to fight a 3 legged chipmunk really. Hard to call this a national problem when in reality its just a state problem.

I cant see W.A staging any major fights for a long time never mind the Green v Mundine rematch.

Disgraceful.

AUSTRALIAN boxing is ******ed. Other countries, believe it or not, CAN get it right every now and then.

EDIT: ^^ At least Green's speech afterwards was pretty genuine. I think maybe it's hard for Green to get any other fights overseas, which is why he's scraping the barrel here. I wouldn't place too much blame on him. It's boxing in general and the correct fights not getting made.

Danny also said, "only if the fight was on the feet".. in other words its not happening. But Danny knows Lesnars standup is garbage, so he'd easily win if it was just a boxing match. This is just BS hype and will obviously amount to nothing.

You can't be serious?

Did you see Lesnar V Carwin?

Unless Danny Green hits harder than a 100kg Heavyweight I'm afraid Brock would demolish Green. I'm sure Danny would score some points early but it's only a matter of time before Brock closes the gap and puts the lights out.

How much reach advantage would Lesnar have? No way is an inside guy like Green be getting anywhere near a monster like Brock Lesnar.

I meant in so far as when WWE stage a fight it at least goes for a decent amount of time (20-40 mins for a "main event") Danny's mate didn't even have the good sense to get back up and wait for a better punch!!

Lesnar would beat Green in 30 seconds with his reach and power. Its laughable to even suggest he can be in the same room as him never mind the same ring.

Lesnar gets more per fight than Green gets per career
