Danny Stanley won't get delisted IMHO. He's coming on nicely, and his performance in the Qualifying Final against Sandringham was fantastic, if you read Gotch's write-up.

He was drafted very bottom-aged, and should be a solid midfielder for us in future. :thumbsu:

You never know Iacobucci got the award for best Williamstown player and he got delisted that year

There is no way he will get delisted!!!!!
He will replace Burnsy when he retires...

He's safe. Read the willy reports and you can see that he's starting to develop into a midfielder and the sort we need to replace the looming retirements of Burns, Licca and O'Bree. I reckon they picked him up knowing that he would take some time to get to where they want him to be. So far from what I've read he's heading in the right direction.

Yes exactly. He needed some time to develop and has been playing good footy in the middle for Willy. Will be one to look for in the next couple of seasons.

of players on the senior list to get the chop i reckon it will be R.Cook, Davies, Licuria (unfortunately), Bryan (or is he on a 2yr deal?), Toovey, Bucks?, Wakes?

Clarke and Wellingham to be promoted off rookie list, Nicholls to get the chop off the rookie list, and not sure about Macaffer we have plenty of medium sized forwards and he has played most of the year in Willy 2s (probably chopped)

Delist:
Ben Davies
Brent McAffer
Daniel Nicholls
One of Stanley/Cook, hopefully stanley
Alan Toovey

Trade:
Chris Egan
Sam Iles

Retire:
Paul Licuria

Keep wakes and buck

  • Go for quick midfeilder with first draft pick
  • Go for ruck with 2nd pick (eg pick 21)
  • Trade for a ruck Wood/Jolly/Hille
  • Focus on mids for other picks

At this stage our second pick is likely to be around #31.

Obviously we'll have a much better idea of what will happen after trade week.

I agree with the delisting but Stanely will stay...Wakes will retire as will burns and we need to trade for a seasoned young midfielder (eg Judd like) rather than to many kids.
They have done a great job with all the kids this year but we need to go for a gun 22-25 midfielder.

Yeah, let's delist the one player on the list actually capable of helping fill our weakest area. Good thinking!

It's pretty strange you have Iles up for trade and Stanley delisted when Stanley/Cook have both shown more. Not that Iles is terrible, but his ceiling is pretty limited.

And ffs, we don't need a quick midfielder, we need an extractor. Some one decent like...Joel Selwood :D

Vote "NO" to retiring Burns.

Like Lionel Hutz and his negotiation skills, he's "still got it!"

P.S. I would be surprised/disappointed if any of Cook/Stanley/Iles went. Iles is finishing off the VFL season in fantastic nick.

I would be unhappy if Egan was traded this early. Surely there is enough there to work with. The fact he missed this season makes me more eager to keep him around to see what he can deliver next year and hopefully he is hungry for it. He is exciting and showed anough late 2006 to suggest he could be very handy. I can see him as an outside runner on the wing once he gets that confidence in himself to run and carry.

I remember against West Coast in 06 at the G I think it was when he ran forward from the wing and slotted that goal only to have it brought back. That was exciting as hell. And then that goal on the boundary against the Roos late last year. He needs to develop his defensive game, but there is alot to work with, and a trade at this point wouldn't attract what we could possibly get by keeping him.

I wouldn't be surprised if Wellingham is left on the rookie list going into next year, especially if Bucks sticks around.

Clarke will obviously be promoted, and I don't see any rush in promoting Wellingham as there is always a long-term injury at each club if we wanted to play him. But I would be quite pleased if he was promoted to the senior list.

There is speculation that due to the "shallow" nature of the 2007 Draft, 2006 rookies are being looked at by rival clubs in case they aren't elevated. They're more highly rated than late picks in this draft.

With that in mind, we'd need to make sure Wellingham wasn't going to nominate for the Draft if we kept him rookied.

Trading Egan right now would be just plain dumb, I agree with you there.

In that case promote Wellingham ASAP:D

Get him on there now

Danny Stanley is a Class Act he will definitely stay, he has leadership qualities, finishing off the Season beautifully at Williamstown. Danny had injuries early in the Season. Sam Iles, Ryan Cook and Danny Nichols have shown enough to be retained IMO all talents.

Wakes should play on, the young blokes are not capable of playing on the gorillas yet.

We need him imo.

I'm getting a tad sick of all this Judd talk and will wait until he decides his team then discuss.

What about Danny Stanley? He finished the year fantastically well playing as the in and under, grunt player 'for Willy and was 1 of the few to stand up. This is the type of player we need. Really hope to see him with some more game time in the guts for the Pies next year.

We need another to come in as I'd think 2008 would be Bucks and Burnsys last year.

For Nicholls to be retained, we have to give him a senior list spot.

I don't think so.
