Question was ceiling though, not good long term average.

Hard not to be able to squint and say you can't see 70 as a ceiling.

And I think most relevantly, he would need to add somewhere between 20 and 25 goals on last year's output to put him in the mix for the Coleman in a lot of years these days, i.e. the absolute upper echelon.

If you're someone who's optimistic he could be that sort of forward, the encouraging thing is that when he's had his best years- 2022 and 2024, it was the back end of the seasons when he got hot and produced at an elite level, and generally he had slow starts.

Put this in perspective: last year he had six goals through round seven. He currently has 7. He won't stay at 3.5 gpg the whole season, but frankly I also don't think these games are near his peak performance right now. He could make a pretty decent inroad.

Watching the first 2 games this year I do feel like Fog is now playing with that confidence/ borderline arrogance that he did as a man child playing against boys when he was a junior.

Also, to be clear, I want him playing with borderline arrogance. It's always felt like with Darcy confidence is key. When he knows he can monster you, you're in serious trouble!
Yep we saw that when he just pushed (Reid I think) over, picked up the ball, then stepped around another and just casually kicked it like he was having a kick in the park.

To think Reid was taken in the same draft as Thilthorpe. Why isn't he in the gym more as should have put some weight on by now.

If this is peak Fog it’s still pretty good. Probably not a genuine first-banana kpf, but a bloody good second one.
I'll take leading the Coleman... without plenty of umpire assisted goals.

When his confidence is right up we will see him going up through centre rather than wings and really taking on the opposition.
If our outside game holds up all year, he is going to get so many good looks on the lead and we know he is generally a beautiful kick both for goal and field kicking. I'd not cap him at anything at this stage of the year as he could end up with a bunch of bags of goals as the season progresses.

It looks like he knows his game really well now.
Has that confidence that he isn't defined by goals on the stat sheet.
He is such a team player now, he is happy to bring others into the game to make the side successful.

How good is it now that the team is kicking accurately, there are lots more goals than points and having that scoreboard pressure on the opposition

I guess it also helps that the two teams we've played so far were garbage defensively, which allowed us to get a lot of quick, clean ball movement. I want to see us up against some of the good teams like Hawthorn, Brisbane etc before I start getting out the lotion and tissues. But all you can do is beat what's in front of you, and we've at least done that convincingly.
just bit too much information right there

A 40-50 goal Fog is all we need. He's not our #1 forward, and his physicality alongside TT height and agility is going to cause nightmares for opposition.

Our forward line is as dangerous, if not more so than 2017.

Even if it dips to 30-35, it's fine as a second banana.

Hard to say it's more dangerous than 2017, seeing that forward line has a genuine case for the best single offense in AFL history (noting it was done in a harder era to score then other great offenses).

He's 7 from 2. 21 games to go.

To get to 40 that's 33 goals from 21 at 1.5 pg.
To get to 50 that's 43 goals from 21 at 2.0 pg.

I want to see him in that 50-60 bracket from here.

The problem with our side is that we have so many good goal scorers. This means that they take goals from each other. Good for the team, but not for the forwards who want to win the Coleman.
Isn't that akin to a midfield stacked with stars cannibalising each other's chances of winning the Brownlow? It's great for the team, but not for the mids who aspire to take home Charlie. 🙃

Not all of us possess the requisite anatomy to engage in such undertakings at will. However, you do you... 😳😅

This is the year for Fog to shine. Mids are doing their part, at a time when he’s the most experienced big forward that’s also on the rise. Really going to be fun to see his progress this year!

We all know that Fog was the fruit of the pick we got for losing Cameron to Brisbane.
So, as it stands now, have we won that trade, lost, or stayed even?
Good question. Losing Cameron in his peak years helped close our window, but I think we would have fallen apart anyway.

Fog peaking now might help open a new window over the next five years, especially with Tex leaving soon, we’ll need him.

Edit - looks likely to be roughly even

We are behind now & Cameron helped Lions to a flag, but hoping we at least match it in both respects.

How can you not love the guy?

He gets a temporary Coopers tattoo to flex in Gather Round for an easy $30K which pisses off CBU and the AFL because there's nothing they can do about it, and in the same 24 hours then takes the opportunity to tell Higgins to bugger off back to Victoria when he said he hated Adelaide. Legend.

That little 💩 Higgins has the brain of a pea and the maturity of a pre-pubescent teenager. Imagine preferring to play video games in your hotel room than getting out and exploring your surroundings. What a loser. I'm glad Fog had a dig at him.
