Being chased by Brisbane to be the new backup to Big O. Apparently he has several family members in Queensland and his old man is a Lions fan.

Geelong fans, what's he worth to you?

Late future R3/R4 or fringe player swap.

The issue isnt the trade price (that will be cheap) but that we are thin for ruck depth so i cant see us agreeing to trade fort until we another ruck coming in through a separate trade (eg lynch ladhams etc).

"Darcy, we're looking at opportunities for him. He's contracted so if Geelong say no, then they say no,” player manager and former Essendon star Scott Lucas told Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio.

"But if a club are open to a discussion elsewhere and it can work for both parties then we're always looking to explore."

When asked whether Brisbane might be a realistic option for Fort, his manager Lucas said, "There has been some interest".

"Rhys Stanley has signed an extension and we look at that pragmatically. Clearly they're pleased with what Rhys is doing," Lucas added.

"Darcy didn't play a game this year for Geelong, so therefore you do have a look around. There is still a fair bit of work to do but we're hopeful."

Future 3rd IMO, and we won't stand in his way.

Lions and Cats have had a very solid relationship the past decade or so, and I don't expect that to change with a deal for Fort. Will be one of the easiest trades of the trade period, just like Nakia last year and Linc the time before that.

P.S. might be time for us to get one of your players for once haha - Walker, Christensen, McCarthy, Cockatoo and now Fort. Wouldn't mind a look at Ely Smith or Noah Answerth, if either were put up for discussion :)

What's happened with Smith? Liked him in his draft year
Struggled to take the steps required to get himself ready for professional football. By all accounts he's made a lot of progress in this area over the last couple of years, but sadly COVID and injuries have robbed him of opportunities to stake a claim for a spot in the seniors.

He's still contacted for 2022. I'd love him to have a breakout year but realistically the chances would be slim at this point.

Surely it's our turn to take a Brisbane player soon? Chris Scott has certainly been looking after his old stomping ground.

In any case. He's not the worst depth. Future 3rd ideal for us, future 4th probably more likely

Current year third probably, we'll need points next year for a F/S pick. Most Brisbane fans would be happy to send Ely Smith off, but probably not Answerth.

Current third isnt that useful for us as we will have more picks than list spots to use them although we could always swap it out for a future 3rd with a club that needs points this year.

Fair enough. It'll probably be up to us to do that, since we're going to have to satisfy your mob at the trade table, not the other way around.

Future pick in the 50s of some sort would do.

Darcy Fort is set to join Neale at the Lions with a deal ready to go once other clubs involved in the ruck merry-go-round complete their negotiations.

"Between us and Geelong the value has been established as to how we want the deal to be done," Daly said.

"I'm sure it will play out well in the next 24 hours for us and we'll get Darcy across to Brisbane."
