I thought i would post some information on Darcy seeing he is not that well known having only played 8 AFL games over 3 years. Also our only trade in 2021
Hard to find any recent footage on Darcy

Be interesting to see how we use him-
(a) Backup only if Oscar goes down
(b) A two ruck combo with one resting forward at times to give us a third tall forward at times during the game. So, only a 2 tall forward structure
(c) Have a 3 tall forward line (say Payne for arguments sake) with Oscar & Fort relieving up forward when our talls are resting on bench. Balance of ruck time on bench
...

Darcy Fort traded to Brisbane Lions 2021:- Brisbane gains Darcy Fort and pick 41. Geelong gains pick 50 and Brisbane’s future third-rounder.

Darcy Fort (age 28 born 6 August 1993) is an Australian rules footballer now playing for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). A 2.04-metre ruckman who can also play as a key forward, he played in several state leagues before being drafted by Geelong as a mature-age recruit. He made his AFL debut in round 9 of the 2019 season

Fort was drafted by Geelong with pick 65 in the 2018 national draft, quitting his job as a civil engineer to play for the club.

Two thing we like in recruits -

late to AFL elite level so aware of the opportunity and has had to work hard to get there.

Smart. Qualified engineer.

Will be interesting if they slot him in straight away for Eric, so have O and him rotating through. Could be fun.

If it is working really well and we are killing it.
It will be a really hard decision for the coaching department as to what we do when Eric is back and ready for selection.
Does he stay in and one of Eric, Dan or Joe miss out? Or does Fort get left out of the team and we revert back to Daniher as back up for Oscar (or Fort) if he is playing that well.

Our trading has been more precise and targeted in recent years and much better than the scatter gun approach of the past

Fort looks like an excellent get

I feel like Eric and Joe are the like for like players in our ideal setup.

Looks like Darcy had a rough look going on in 2021
I prefer the clean shaven look myself

So top three traded and/or delisted.
Not all that unusual that good regular VFL players get moved on for a number of reasons
Rucks are a little different in that they get stuck behind good players and clubs need a solid backup.
In Darcy's case it appears Geelong's coach Scott preferred a odd sort of ruck combination over the years
However Scott must consider Ceglar a better option than Fort

Listed below is our reserve B & F winners. I took it from wikipedia so hope it is correct
I note Oscar won the award in his first year at the club

2014: Nick Hayes
2015: Zac O'Brien
2016: Billy Evans

2017: Oscar McInerney

2018: Ryan Bastinac/Claye Beams/Ben Keays/Corey Lyons
2019: Ryan Bastinac
2020: no award?
2021: Connor Ballenden

I wouldn't say it was Fort's ability more the fact he was under 30, doesn't fit Geelong's mantra.
