Darcy moore hamstring :(

And that makes 3 in little over a year.

Be thankful if he's back in 12 weeks but given the situation with Freeman last year we may not see him again this season.

Quoting that Paige, she's a deadest nobody desperate for some sort of relevance. You wont see someone break more "information" and be wrong so consistently, ever.

I can pull junk out of my backside too...."BREAKING: Swan retires effective immediately in order to pursue career in Rhythmic Gymnastics"

I hear Rhythmic Gymnastics can be quite lucrative, I don't blame the bloke, really.

Definitely a trend now. Hamstring tendons are very rare. If 1 is against the grain, then 4 is unacceptable.

Must be like 3 ACL'S in 2012......lucky we got rid of Buttafit. (Not sure spelling)

Take a chill pill Escobar are you an expert in hamstring tendons?

My point is have our injuries THIS year been the result of over training?

Last year I agree they may have been.......This year I didn't see Davoren break Steely's thumb or
Greenwood ankle......or Witts shoulder during the off season!!!!!!!!

I *have* noticed Eddie is unwilling to spend money to help the club.

Yep - He is a Cheap Skate Now.

Just so he can make a Stand against the AFL over Equlzation over Footy Department spending.

ACL's are unlucky injuries that can happen from just one little twist or turn.

Hamstring tendons are not. Ever since this bloke has been at our club we constantly are getting hamstring and other soft tissue injuries.

Whether the hamstring injuries are a run of bad luck or mismanagement, surely we have enough confidence in the club that turns over close to $80 million AUD a year that they are on top of this.

I might be pretty naive but surely there are enough reviews, checks and balances within the football department to identify if we are doing something wrong and if so making the necessary changes.

That being said, if it is a problem caused internally by training regime or other, I sure hope we get on top of it soon. Moore and Freeman injuries are real sad.

Who are the other hamstring tendons - Sinclair and ?

Please show me the evidence that we are ahead of the pack in this area.

Sinclair might just have dodgy hammys I've lost count how many he has had.

Freeman has been all good this year......ditto Marsh........Knock on wood.

Did someone say Moore Snr had dodgy hammys also in this thread?

Yes his dad did have dodgy hammys and played in the 81 GF as captain against Carlton with a torn hammy and was pretty useless, contributing to our loss.

Just in regard to the tendon issue, the club noted last year that looking for the tendon damage is a relatively new thing (apart from when they are obviously torn) due to better scanning techniques. It means they look for it now and manage the injury better rather than rushing them back in the usual 3 to 4 weeks and having them re-tear it.

We are stiff though. It's probably a lot of bad luck.

I believe maybe a couple of Hawthorn players had hamstring tendon tears last year including Mitchell. Del Santo for Nth has had one this year and says he's never had a muscle injury before.

I'm guessing this is about 8 weeks out going by Mitchell etc.

FMD :(

I do believe the standard recovery time is 8-12 weeks, 8 weeks seems to be the absolute best case scenario, and judging by the fact we will be super cautious with him, I doubt we will see him back before late in the VFL season.

If people want to blame anyone for the soft tissue injuries plaguing all the clubs...look no further than the boffins who brought in the sub rule. Over use injury...players are going too long and too hard and it costs hammys and calves. The stupidity in attempting to hobble one club (or just Swanny) because they used the interchange so effectively has meant that all clubs are now copping more and more soft tissue strains. Look at hockey...players interchange constantly and they rarely get soft tissue injuries (mostly corkies and breaks!!)
Due to the rule change clubs have had to try and retrain bodies that were used to unlimited interchange....its been particularly tough on older established players (like Swan, Mitchell, Watson, Newman, Judd) who've all had issues since the sub rule. As for the young guns....yes they're adapting to heavier training loads but look back on WHEN they did their injuries. Moore and Marsh both ripped their hammy's late in the game when they were tired. Freeman did his last year after he'd run flat out the entire first quarter of his first praccy match....they do it because they are weary and not able to rotate off the ground.
Sinclair, Reid, remember Bucks at the end of his career?....these guys just have a propensity to do soft tissue damage due to age, body design or miles in the legs.
I doubt there's much our club (or anyone) can do....besides weekly rest for youngsters (ie...they play alternate weeks) but until the AFL reinstates proper rest and rotation capabilities players will continue to fall to soft tissue issues. Instead of trying to limit Collingwood's advantage due to rotations in 2010-2011....the AFL should have thought about the players themselves and maintained unlimited rotation. The sub rule may be dead in the water now....but how many weeks of players careers has it cost?

While the injury isn't great on the positive side will allow him to spend 8-10 weeks hitting the gym hard and hopefully build some strength and bulk.

Given brown and frost's form wouldn't be playing seniors anytime soon.

So yet another Tendon injury caused by over load bearing.

All the Devoran defenders have just quietly slunk away...

******* brilliant, season over for Moore.

How many Hamstring tendon injuries have all the other 17 clubs had compared to ours in the past few years? I bet we come out ahead.

I'm not so much a Davoren defender, as a CFC supporter. I trust the club to be on top of this and put whatever resources available into it. Davoren and his team have a job to do, and should be allowed to get on with it.

Injuries aside, we appear to be running out games better this year. i.e. we appear to be fitter. Surely that's good news.

Outstanding post Rob. Totally nailed it. The AfL in their usual addiction to controlling every tiny facet of the game and no doubt led by Collingwood hating turds like Mike Fitzpatrick devoted themselves to clipping our wings at the time when it looked like we were unstoppable and ahead of the curve. As usual they never actually considered any of the wider implications. The sub rule was dumb and ill considered and knee jerk - like so many of their decisions over the years. I am certain there is truth to what you are suggesting about its contribution to the injury toll.

How can you tell we are fitter this year? Brisbane destroyed us in the 2nd half in round 1. Against Adelaide they took their foot off the gas in the last which made us look like we were fitter, and against Essendon they were underdone. We MIGHT be fitter but there is no conclusive evidence at all atm
