Darcy Moore Knee Drop

Moore and Maynard would have been suspended if they played for any other club

I disagree with this. I think it's more a consistent lack of accountability. Just thinking back to the last time the Suns played Geelong and all the hysteria about Stewart's bump on Anderson, yet this late swinging forearm from Jed Walter to the side/back of Mark O'Connor's head didn't even get a mention, from memory. No downfield, nothing.

It's quite baffling how it's pretty much only bumps that make contact to the head that we can be sure will be looked at.

Jon Ralph reporting on On the Couch that the AFL believes Darcy Moore followed Treacy into the marking contest (basically making it part of a marking contest)

Seems like a pretty big stretch seeing as there is a decent beat between the mark and the kneeing and the umpire judged that the knee was late for a 50m penalty.

To be fair to On the Couch, not a single panelist really agreed with Moore getting nothing

Umpire should have made a report on the ground. I know the system encourages them to not worry about that but it would somewhat take away the single point of failure that is Chrisso.
This is a good point. The umpire saw it, penalised it, so should have reported it. At least then the gormless magpie licker would have been forced to explain how he assessed the match day report

Absolutely laughable justification. It was less part of the contest than a defender punching a leading forward in the back of the head attempting to spoil.

Gerard was a bit surprised nothing came of this and Lyon thought a fine was enough on 360. Should be 2 weeks IMO.

After watching the replay several times, it looked like it was a follow on from the contest and then instead of bracing with his hand or other knee, he chooses to use his knee that’s trajecting towards Treacy.

We put onus on the tackler to not pin both arms, as well as on the tacklee to be able to use their spare arm to brace, so I don’t see why this shouldn’t be extended to marking contests.

It should have been a fine. Maybe a week. Careless and dumb.

The Maynard incident should have been looked at much more closely imo.

Lloydy has a high profile and loves a big headline nowadays. He's already dusted off the Annual 'Zac Merrett should leave Essendon for success' file.

Maybe he should revisit this again and with 'potential to cause injury' all the rage now, go to town on how that MRO flog can say a late pair of knees into a prone player couldn't possibly elevate the risk of what sounds like a horrific injury.

The media determines Christians hand
Had there been a keen media focus on it, I'm sure he would gave got some sort of sanction

Gerrard thinks a senior coach pretending to be a plane is unedifying yet laughs at the player mocking him once the tables finally turned.
The last person I'd give any credence to.

A shame they cut Robbo and kept him to be honest, was a good laugh never knowing what Robbo would bring, now the only shining light is Razor.

Wasn’t deliberate-geez get a grip dudes.

Looked 100% deliberate to me. And even if you don't want to believe that, there is a classification available for careless/body/low impact. It's only a small fine and not a suspension, and would allow Christian to at least pretend to be impartial.

Time for Richmond to throw a few Pies players into the fence or interchange at high velocity. Drop some knees into them when they are down. Cause apparently there's no issue with doing any of this.

Genuinely curious if there will be a journo courageous enough to question the inconsistencies from the MRO.

From the Windhager fine, wanting to step down if Maynard got rubbed out in 2023, and now this - surely there's enough bias to at the very least require a panel of 3 or 5. We all know if that happened to Daicos, it would be sanctioned.

It's already been dismissed
I get what you're saying but if there's even a hint of grey area; Christian will use it to get anyone wearing that jumper, off.
Everyone knows what Moore's intentions were once he knew he was beaten in the contest by his opponent, which is supported by the fact he's done this to others in the league throughout his career. It's what he does and how he plays the game. A dog act by a dog player.
BUT, there is still enough of a glint of speculation about Moore's intentions for Christian to say, "nothing to see here, move along ".
The fact that there wasn't a massive do about it from the media also assisted him with his decision.
