when darcy has set shots, the trajectory of his kicks is very low. I sometimes think he will not make the distance.
is this his method or is he not kicking through the ball? on the run he seems to get more distance / elevation.
not bagging him, just curious what the more knowledgeable think of my comment.

I'd be happy, at this point in time, if Darcy missed more shots simply because he has clunked the ball and earned the opportunity to have a shot.
Kicking can be improved. Not sure about clunking.

Moore Pretty Reliable in front of Goal I though

Needs to make the most of his opportunities though Dave.
And that means taking those low down marks, taking those opportunities that sees him hands first to the ball, only to drop it without significant opposition interference.
We've all seen it, we all despair at the missed opportunities that his old man would have swallowed.

He started off that way, was pretty confident when he had set shots but then went the other way. I think his technique is sound and long term should have a reasonable conversion rate.
With the way the whole team is going infront of the big sticks it's probably not a surprise he has missed a few as well. I think he'll take a lot of confidence out of last weeks game. Probably should have kicked 4 or 5 but that will come. I don't think we'll have to worry about his conversion rate in a couple of years.

That's what they said about Joe a few years ago.
How's that working out?

Darcy doesn't have kicking issues. He hits the ball smoothly and kicks straight. JOE on the other hand, "swing kicks" like a lot of left footers and has always done it. If Darcy has 10 shots he'll kick 8. If Joe has 10 shots he'll kick 2. I don't know why ppl are trying to say Darcy can't kick? He's technically efficient. Let's just give him the ball properly and let him knock them over the goal umpires head.

Darcy doesnt seem to get a lot of penetration, he does keep his shots pretty low in general but I worry a bit about his distance.

Joes set shot kicking technique is flawed, Darcy's is not. I think Carey described it last year as almost perfect, despite how awkward he looks throwing his arms out like he does.
It's far easier to straighten yourself up if you have a good technique than if you have a flawed one.

Cloke set a pretty low bar for the forwards, expectations should rise and would love to see Darcy set it much higher.

Put more Core Strength in and he should be able to Kick Longer.

Though his Field Kicking has some Penetration to it

Not based on 2017 stats.
JD - 42% goal kicking accuracy.
DM - 46% goal kicking accuracy.
WHE - 80% goal kicking accuracy.

I kicked the same way. Low trajectory (although I looked more natural). Didn't necessarily affect distance depending upon your power.

Overall I was a legend. Unfortunately I didn't give afl clubs the opportunity to discover me.

It's my one regret in life. Not sharing my ability with the afl community. Nothing but selfishness on my part.

Please accept my apologies.

I have brought it up before he stab kicks at goals.

Needs to really get the pendulum swing kick happening and kick right through it. He also bends at the knee instead of having a straight leg like most FFs worth their salt have when at extension kicking through it.

I didn't watch Peter Moore being not alive back then did he kick in a similar manner or is it a bad habbit Darcy has developed on his own?

Interestingly, Leigh Matthews made the comment about him not kicking through the ball too.
It was when he had a shot in the last quarter near the 50.
He kicked through it and missed to the left, (not by much though).
Probably the first time I've seen him do it, so maybe it's something he's working on.

Would love to see the club poach big Sav back to the club in a goal kicking coaching role next year. Pay the damn tax Pert and Ed enough is enough.

We do have Pebbles.
If memory serves he could roost one...

But Pebbles had the Travis Cloke about him - could hit the long ones, but always a question 20-30m out.
I dont have the numbers in front of me, but i remember sav being a much better kick.
