Weren’t Buckley’s hamstring woes back-related also? Seems like it’s not uncommon.

Buckley's hamstring woes had everything to do with him getting massive virtually overnight.

We all foamed at the mouth back in the day at that shot of him doing push ups on the rings with the biggest rig he'd ever had after a massive pre-season in the gym.

We all cried inconsolably later on his hamstrings kept tearing like tissue paper under the load his increased bulk put on them. It was no accident that he'd shed virtually all of the bulk by the time he got his hamstring issues right.

Who's interested in a protest of some sort opposing the trading of Moore..

Perhaps starvation via a vegan diet.. some s**t like that is enough. And no cheating guys.. don't load up on the nutrients you get from meats and dairy from vitamin pills and s**t. Let's do this right.

I thought Darcy did well on Franklin in the first quarter given his inexperience and run with injury; his athleticism is undeniable. The club has to show Moore that it has a compelling plan for getting him right.

Any club wanting him on their list would need to sell their ability to fix his soft tissue problems and keep him on the ground so he can realize his potential. Our future looks even better with him in defense. I believe a trouble-free preseason would see him having the kind of year that would establish him as elite.

Collingwood confident that Darcy will re-sign soon, and that he potentially strained his hammy at the start of the game but played on.

Club apparently thinking hamstring issues may be related to his back growing and tightening as he himself grows, and thinks a specialised running program (similar to one undertaken by Cyril a few years back) during the off-season will help with the issue.
Which of course is what I said about his hips

Buck's hamstring issues started in 04. Prior to the 01 season if IIRC was when he shed 10kgs to play at a lighter body weight.....

From memory Bucks had hamstring tendon issues & he wasn’t diagnosed correctly. Just treated it as a normal hammy. But it kept recurring. But in fairness they know a bit more about hamstring tendon issues these days.

Did surgery and found a small tear they hadn’t picked up and stitched it from memory.

Fully fit he can potentially be a taller faster Alex Rance with better disposal by foot and better marking ability, we just need the extra height down back to support him. Rance in the same stage of his career used to cop it from everyone until he improved with the support of Dylan Grimes and Chaplin/Astbury.

Ideally i think the best possible outcome for Darcy Moore is recruiting a 95-100kg fullback who who can handle Tom Hawkins/Lance Franklin/Charlie Dixon types. Steven May is perfect for that, has the athletism and core strength to handle basically any key forward we throw at him.

I’d then throw Mihocek(or find someone else) into Scharenbergs spot, Scharenberg was great this season, however i’d rather have Mihocek playing 1v1 with the Jack Darling, Tim Membrey types, and then having Matt Scharenberg in Tom Langdons position.

FB: Brayden Maynard, Steven May/Dunn, Brody Mihocek
HB: Matt Scharenberg, Darcy Moore, Jeremy Howe
+Jack Crisp

My only concern is having Maynard on the number 1 small forward, i’d rather he be in a more rebounding role himself.

My (non-professional) experience is that most chronic hammy issues are back/hip related.

In actual fact it's amazing what can be. A few months ago I had chronic "lower abdominal" pain that had me feeling sick and feeling like I'd been kicked where it hurts........not nice when it goes on for weeks/months. Doctors sent me for CT scans with dye injected into my veins and God knows what else.

I ended up figuring it out for myself that it was all related to tight hips which is related to my scoliosis and posture etc.........

Moore and club need to talk to Paul Williams.. from memory he had the same issues...

I am 99% sure Paul Williams used a manipulator called Joy Manser in Heidelberg. My in laws have used her for years.
He even flew down the week of the 2005 Grand Final to get work done on his hamstrings.

Darcy should be trying everything until he fixes his problems.

Did he this year?

Depending on season length Shaz will have played 17 games out of a possible 2x. Realistically that means in his most consistent single season he played 3 out of every 4 games.

Did he play well when he was in the team? Absolutely. Do I want him to succeed. Absolutely. Will his body stand up to the the modern game and allow him to build on 2018's output on the back of an acl is the question we have to ask.

I found some information on her...….she fixed my back in 10 minutes.

Not sure how your knee is going but here are the details of the muscle manipulator, if your game!:

Joy Manser, 20 Thames St Heidelberg Heights 9457 3680

Also:

Joy Manser describes herself as a "manipulation therapist" and is another unconventional guru who is well regarded in AFL circles. She has been treating AFL players for 20 years and developed her method after a chance meeting in Japan, about 30 years ago, at the scene of a car accident.

Another witness began treating the crash victim on the site, and Manser was so fascinated by what he did that she followed him up.

She now runs a clinic in Heidelberg Heights and specialises in the treatment of soft tissue injuries, using her hands to realign muscles and tendons around ankles, knees and hamstrings."

It's a painful treatment," she says, matter-of-factly. "It's done by feel. It's like plucking the muscle. It's not just a grab-it-and-yank. You're getting your fi ngers underneath it, really deep, and rolling. It's all deep tissue work."

She lists among her clients Wayne Carey - "He couldn't lift his arms above his head before I met him, that's why he always took chest marks" - and Nathan Buckley, Anthony Koutoufi des, Fraser Gehrig, Corey McKernan, Tony Shaw, Max Hudghton, Scott Camporeale and Leigh Montagna. The past two seasons, Sydney has flown Manser to its headquarters so she could treat a handful of Swans players.

Manser nominates Paul Williams, Sydney's 33-year-old veteran, as her greatest success story. He says he would have struggled to play in last year's premiership without Manser, who helped cure his injured thigh last September, and after his 300th match earlier this year, Williams took his secret weapon out for a meal.

On occasion, Collingwood and St Kilda have sent club physios out with their players just to check the whole thing out, but Manser hasn't encountered any open hostility yet."

They've just been amazed that we can get someone with a hamstring problem back on the fi eld within a week when they've been told they're going to have four to six weeks off," she said."

Players are prepared to try anything that's going to do them any good - whether the clubs are 100 per cent behind it or not."
And in the case of some, perhaps it's better the devil they don't know

Will his body stand up is a completely different question to the first one you asked.
