I reckon his available, but Bucks probably knows he wont be around next year as well so he will likely give Moore the finger and refuse to play him
You really think,
that if Nathan thinks Moore is fit and best 22 he will lessen his chances of being a premiership coach as Moore might leave?

No way. Win flag first.
Mop up any mess after.

Is he actually in the Best 22 though? He hasn't played for a few weeks, and we're talking finals-level intensity. Lesser players in the team are now seasoned to those conditions. Big risk imo

Fair points.
If he's not best 22 as under conditioned then that answers question, shouldn't play.

You do realise when Darcy did play it was mostly at chb or fb.
And trained for those positions, not as a forward

Do you think he has forgotten how to play forward given most his career was spent there?

It amazes me the hard on people have for Darcy the defender and not the fwd, judging his inconsistency when he was a 18 and 19 yo in a bottom 4-6 team with 17th and 18th worst delivery into the f50.

WC J.Kennedy looked an absolute fat spud in his first 2-3 years, most KPP take time to build consistency.

I think he has looked better as a defender. If he could ever get fit enough to play 22 games I think he’ll be an All Aus defender.

The problem being is he becoming another Sam Reid/Nathan Freeman?

I think with Richmond’s mostly small forward line he isn’t needed this week even if he is 100% fit. But if we win and play West Coast in the GF then we definitely need him and it’s a big ask to come back in a GF

Maybe the club have given him extra weeks off because they suspect that he has been bullshitting when claiming he was ready to go. He is in a contract year and wants big dollars so he needed to play every game possible

So putting everything together I’d play him myself.

He’s X factor, and I think he’s very honourable- he’ll get bursting to do well.

But either way, I’ll trust the decision makers on him.

Ps he’ll stay at Collingwood and we’ll gave our outstanding key defender for a decade to build the defence around.
With Dunn and handing over to McLarty.

Unless we can snare a King in the draft for our key defence for the future.

Some interesting callers on SEN this morning re Darcy.

Apparently Pickering is on at the moment.

I don't think they will risk him. I would but I don't think the Club will.

I find some of the stuff labelled on Moore grossly unfair.

It might be he has real integrity and if he thinks he’s not right he doesn’t hide it and hurt the team. Presti like.

He’s a real good guy, beats to a quieter drum, but you hear he’s a good egg.

I’m backing Darcy in and he’ll sign and stay and be a long term

You’re a favourite of mine (though not in the Leigh Matthews category :))
As is ottoman the Turkish bath specialist and WalterBlaknWhte the lazy avatarless one whose real name is Ben R. His wag keeps him busy.

If anyone thinks Moore isn’t best 22 then you’re delusional!

This is about Moore holding back & Pies not trusting his body to play out a game

If this was round 20 he’ll be playing

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app

He had to play vs wce. It wasnt a knockout game so if he broke down we could live with it. It was the risk they had to take.

Its too late to play him now.

I think it depends on where he and the club are at in terms of his playing future.

If he's gone, don't play him. We'll need as much trade value as we can get with him and if he played and had another injury early in the game we are behind the 8 ball in the match and would severely damage his trade value I reckon.

We've got this far largely without him, just keep pushing. Bringing him in upsets our structure too much especially against the Tigers.

The operative word is could. On exposed form and recent sporadic evidence could is not a convincing case.
Phil Carman could have been the greatest ever
I could have been a professional musician.
Hilary Clinton could have been President.
So could have Bernie Sanders.
There's a massive difference between potential and results.

Yeah, but the only thing holding him back, I reckon, is his body. That's a big problem, of course. But anyway, I was answering the question "why people are excited about him". I was excited about Bernie Sanders too..... :)

Pickering is delusional I reckon, unless he's 120% you wouldn't play him or anyone else against the Tigers. You just can't afford to go into a match like Friday night against the highest pressure team in the AFL and expect to run the game out. We've learnt from this already this season and it won't happen.

I like Moore and hope he stays and gets his body right but let's pencil him in for 2019.

Best case we get through and play WCE and only then would I suggest match-ups might see him play again this year.

Summary of Bucks' comments:

- has been best on track recently - largely up to Darcy to first get through it psychologically and believe in his body , then will get referred on to medicos for final decision
- they need to make a decision on whether his "block of work" is enough to justify the risk of him breaking down. Again referred to the 20 mins match practice being just that.

Seems very unlikely to be selected from here , which is not any surprise.

DO you realise what l was replying to, go back and have a read.
Where have l said that he could not play as a forward,
At the moment he suits the team better down back,

I personally think he'd add to our defence against the Tigers. We need to dominate the air against them because they're so dangerous if it comes to ground. Townsend plays like a defender in aerial contests making sure it comes to ground. He'll blanket Howes intercept work. If he's on Moore instead, it leaves Langdon and Howe to dominate the air. I don't think it will happen and I'd be gutted for Mayne, but think you could justify him out, Greenwood to the midfield to tag. Howe to a flank. Midfielders rotating through Mayne's wing.

A quick question?

His status re next season should be irrelevant in my view.

  • So why would you lessen your teams chances of winning a game on some fit of pique about playing status of 2019?
