Jesse white shouldn't be in a team that plays finals, hasn't been a strong finals performer over the journey.

I agree that no one should be gifted games however I'm not sure White offers much in any case, not a marking target, unreliable in front of goals, goes to water under pressure and not really a physical presence on the field despite his size.

I'd rather play moore and if he has a bit of a down spell bring in white. given white has almost played 100 games more his statistical superiority for 2015 isn't terribly much and for a medium to long term goal i would rather play someone who looks like they could be something other than a list clogger.
Best game I've ever seen him play was a final with the Swans before he crossed to the Pies.

Actually 2 from marks, 1 from a very soft free, and 2 off the back of hard work by teammates when he was opponent less. And my point was that he accumulated his scores in exactly the same way you were slamming White for scoring his. Can't have it both ways Dave, if it's great play when Moore does it, it's great play when White does it.
On the bolded, you're correct with one there, but maybe you should go back and watch the second one which you say was off the back of others 'hard work'.

Darcy himself said that was his most satisfying goal as he worked his opponent up the ground and then burned him off over 100+ meters to get in position to get that ball and consequential goal. He worked bloody hard for that one and it shits me that people are saying he just got the easy ball over the top for it.

Well said. Moore's work ethic is exceptional. Coupled with his natural ability he is going to be some sort of player.

I've never questioned Moore's work ethic or endeavour or footy smarts or skills and remain optimistic on his potential so happy to stick with my original statement. 1 handball over the top, 1 crumb of a marking contest, in both instances he was without an opponent.

I do find it an interesting paradox though that posters can laud the efforts of our forwards when they create these types of opportunities yet dole out a bake for our defenders when they similarly get caught out by opposition forwards. Not suggesting that you do that of course, just that it is commonplace.

he has had more many more stink finals then good ones
On a par with his H&A efforts I would suggest.

Irrelevant to the point people have been making though that in 2015 White's numbers surpassed Moore's. People can argue any tangent from that that they like but they're the facts and that is the point I and others have been making. And Moore's VFL numbers weren't great either. On raw numbers therefore Moore was gifted opportunities before he'd earned them. It isn't a statement about the relative potential of them going forward, just an observation of the facts. Does seem to get some knickers in a twist though.

i have acknowledged whites numbers were slightly better however i would presume his numbers to stay around the same moving forward. with another preseason and maturity into moore i would expect him to at least level or better whites stats of 2015 which is why i would have it as his spot to lose.

as mentioned earlier in discussions with another poster i would think white has better chance getting that third forward / ruckman role.

And no twisted knickers here!

There is this myth that players need to be playing AFL to develop faster. I don't necessarily agree with this. Moore may be better served playing the number one key forward in the VFL than second or third forward in AFL for half a season before being elevated. He can learn our patterns and refine his craft without the pressure of the AFL.

Playing Moore, DeGooey etc in the VFL for an extended period will not necessarily stunt their growth. They can practice their craft in the roles we expect then to assume in the long term at AFL level.
True, not every player is the same however.

I'm not saying play him every game next season. Id go the route of playing him in stints. Then giving him a rest in the 2's when necessary by giving him half a game. I just don't think a kid like Moore would benefit of playing second tier competition when he's more capable in the seniors.

White isn't playing like a senior player when in the team. That's my biggest concern

Except in the second instance he had worked his arse off to actually lose his opponent. It wasn't as if his opponent had left him alone, he was still being chased back down the ground. Saying he had no opponent is an insult to the kid, because he did have one, he had just been beaten so badly Darcy looked as if he was on his own.

The way people talk crap about White is that he was supposed to be the greatest forward.

Its stupid, He's a 3rd tall, Cloke/Moore/White. Just go watch his GOLD COAST game where yeah they had shit defenders but thats what usually the 3rd Defender is, Medium def.

I love Moore's constant effort as much as I love his sheer athletic potential. Even if he can't win a contest you just know he'll make sure he at least draws it. That's why he will play most games when fit this year.

I love Moore for what he currently is and what he will eventually be, but I also think that White can improve on this years output. Whilst overall his stats indicate he is in career best form, there were moments where he played at a level above those stats. White needs to find better consistency and maybe an improving Moore will help both White and Cloke next season.

Again, why is this a White v Moore? they can coexist.

The benifit would be Moore wouldn't have to second ruck and we'd have a mobile forwardline.
I doubt they can coexist. It will be one or the other with Witts also getting plenty of games. Howe also plays tall and Reid is also a chance to play forward. White may start the year ahead of Moore but it wont last long.

Have you gone mad?

Of course we are going to be happy when our forwards kick goals and be upset when our defenders have goals kicked on them. It's called being a supporter.

I'm really disappointed in Peter Moore to be honest. Not because he left and went to Melbourne and won a Brownlow for them (and later admitted that he should have never changed clubs), but mostly because he stopped after only one son!

Can you imagine if there was another 200cm, athletic forward tearing up the U18s this year with the Moore surname? Cloke had the right idea, but the wrong genes.

I think Darcy is his Youngest. Think he had a few Daughters. He kept it up long enough to get a Son

Reid is most likely going to play back, If he plays forward that's great but Buckley said he'd play down back and Reid said he wants to play down back.

As for Howe, he can play tall but I'd rather him play a running role, he hasn't got the the one on one contested marking ability of a key forward.

For mine its Witts v White. Witts has to show he can mark the footy and have a more consistent impact up forward otherwise the opposition will just rebound on him and until he shows that White's ahead.
