When people were calling for him to be dropped this year after a couple of lean weeks, I thought he's not the type to benefit greatly from a spell in the VFL. Unlike others, he's not weak between the ears and needs to build confidence. Next few weeks we saw the WCE game and other strong performances. For him, IMO, it's more about getting up to speed and strength at AFL.

I'm not saying he'll be like Wayne Carey, but he oozes the leadership and confidence in himself to be a leader in the same way Carey did at a young age. Note I said Carey at a young age and nothing in reference to playing ability.

IMO, he'll be our next captain. He'll leapfrog Tay Adams, when Pendles eventually gives it away. Interesting Moore went to the US with Bucks, after Bucks invited him, to check out some sporting organisations over there in the off season.

It was interesting to see him running alongside Pendles a lot at Falls and to hear that Bucks took him over to the States to tour some sporting facilities. Leadership grooming? Looks like it. He has everything it takes.

I'd prefer he stuck less to the party line - 'it's not just one or two people' and other team work responses, rather than saying he is going to seize the game and make it his own. It is about one or two players when you are the only tall capable of lighting up the forward line. Sometimes I wish they just cut through the crap and admit their personal importance to the team's success. Team work has its role, but stars win games and finals.

You're an iconoclast TGG. What is the usual mantra? A champion team will always beat a team of champions?

Moore is still very young, even though he's full of confidence, articulate, clearly groomed for a leadership role in footy. I'm hoping we see more of his real personality as he matures. More 'Maxy' than 'Pendles'.:)

I watched Boyd in the Grand Final and couldnt help but think how valuable Moore could be floating around the ground taking big marks. I know hes still under developed physically but the thought of Darcy spending about 70% forward 30% ruck would have opposition in a panic i think. Helps him stay involved in the game also when things are tough up forward and he's getting too much attention.

When Boyd looked good Jordan Roughead was still in the ruck. Bevo moved him higher up the ground to get him in the game and Horse's decision to leave Grundy behind the ball was a poor one

Btw if you go to the Hun's twitter account on Chrome, right click on linked articles and select open in Incognito window you can get around the wall, but only 1 article at a time.

Sounds like AdamH is getting upset that a kid who is 2 years younger than Membrey with a higher ceiling is getting media attention.

The fact that he's established a friendship with Mason Cox says something to me about how he wants to be inclusive, rather than the usual "follow me boys" type of captaincy. Couple that with his desire to lead by example on the field makes me think he's a natural. I'd lock him into the captaincy for round 1 2020........I feel a new prediction thread moving thru my bowels and ready to pop out

I think you'd be looking at intellectual levels for his friendship with Cox.

How could you have concluded such a positive post with such an horrendous image.

I don't really understand why his friendship with Mason Cox shows that he is inclusive. Is it because it's natural to dislike Americans?

because most ordinary everyday barbecue loving aussies like to stick to their own..... darcy looks like he's a person who reacts positively to someone who is a bit different. If Derrick Hine ever decided to draft an indigenous player or someone with some ethnicity then I think Darcy would go out of his way to seek the guy out ...that's my take on him
 
i dont understand why you would compare Moore to some membrane...

I was listening to quayle podcast about 2001 draft. Hawks people now are happy with their decision to take Hodge over Judd.....15 years after the fact. In the first few years, people thought they were crazy not to take judd first.... insane to pick the membrane

Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of Moore, but it's just interesting to note that this year Membrey had him beat in almost every important statistic
