Moore's size and agility mean he could be anything, I can't recall a 200cm player as agile and quick as him... He needs to learn how to use his body though.

I remember a guy in the 70s who fits that description. I think his name was Moore.

He knows how to use his body, he just has to grow into it.

Let's all enjoy the ride
He should be ok, and be a future leader type.
I am sure we will all enjoy many years of fine play.

Not to speak for others but I think universally we accept Darcy is a fine talent,
It's all a question of time lines and some debate on whether Darcy is a total elite to be or whether a gun player.

Now it's up to Darcy to go and earn it. Am sure he will do this in time.
We all benefit.

If he's super elite then great, we are all over the moon.

If not at worst he'll be an awesome second ruck and handy forward. Not a bad plan b

No pressure on him yet, he will develop at his own pace. Admittedly his pace has been pretty rapid already And some impatient Pies supporters might be expecting that rate of improvement to continue. It doesn't work like that, we need to be prepared for ups and downs.

I remember reading in Lee Mathew's book that he didn't regard himself as elite in anything. So it's not about how elite you are, but how you use your talent.

Not sure what your point is, obviously its not going to just happen for Moore without some effort on his behalf. His attitude at this stage looks fantastic.

I think Leigh was being modest. He was exceptional at knocking people out
Leigh Mathhews was exceptional.
As a good a player as I've ever seen.
I'd be interested in Knightmare's take on Leigh (and Carey and Ablett Snr) but I digress.

Whilst for me the team has to earn a flag and they actually do it, I am convinced that without Leigh we don't win the 1990 grand final because he galvanised a good team to out tackle out pressure the opposition and we had just enough elite to get us a flag. Daicos especially that year supported by Browns hardness in the forward area, Millanes beast work, Morwood and McGuane with Francis Russell got us that last part to win the season not just the game. Yes, tony shaw was always tough and there too.

I think Moore does have the potential to be one of the top forwards in the game, as good is not better than Jack Riewoldt. I will not put a ceiling on what he becomes because after less than 10 games, in the Pies of 2015, i don't think i've seen enough to make a proper assessment.

Agree - To early to a Ceiling on Darcy yet. Just played 9 Games in his 1st Season. He still could be Anything

There be a Chance next season he might have 2nd Year Blues but IF That Happens you should not just come out and call him a Hack. Like what happened with Grundy

You need to have a standout first season to get second year blues Dave. Whilst Darcy had a solid debut season, he still only played less than 10 senior games, and he wasn't all that effective aside from the Bulldogs game.

If he didn't improve next year even slightly, with another preseason under his belt as a tall, it would be seriously concerning.

Dave, I honestly don't believe you have the capacity for impartial assessment here. Moore's 5 goal game was an exception, rather than his norm. Outside of that game he showed that he really wasn't actually ready for AFL, struggling for both goals and possessions at AFL level (and to be frank, at VFL level as well...).

Agree. Thought Moore was very lucky to get a debut game when he did, I actually had him behind Dwyer, Marsh and Scharenberg on form. Ditto Maynard. And I didn't think his 5 goal game was that flash, certainly not his best game in 2015. I do however think his performances showed gradual improvement and I think with another pre-season under his belt he'll have a far greater impact in 2016. Does that make him a rising star candidate? Who knows.

I can't agree with that, Moore's competitiveness puts him ahead of White. White didn't impact enough contests, Moore tried to bring the ball to ground like his life dependent on it and gives our small forwards a chance to crumb.

Moore's also more effective when the ball hits the ground. Moore >>>>>>>>>>>> White already IMO.

You're confusing potential with current reality but either way, a player can have all the endeavour in the world but if he ain't getting the footy it doesn't amount to much.

I disagree that Moore is Clearly Tier Down on Hogan. Sorry but I disagree. I see Moore and Hogan both being Top End Forwards of the Competition.

Moore has played Half a Season and Only Started playing Forward Half-Way thru the Season. He played Pre-Season and Start of Season down Back and Did looks good down back as well. So too early to Call on the Production stage yet.

Hogan been playing Senior Footy Longer and Been in the AFL System a few year longer. So he has a Head Start on Moore.

Hogan also has to do it again this Season

I think you're getting confused Dave but there is currently an enormous gulf between Moore and Hogan. Moore could potentially become a top tier forward, Hogan has already shown he is.

A kid down at Geelong named Stanley comes to mind, sure there are others although that 200cm+ caveat does narrow the field.

Well Grundy had 7 late Games and Played Really Well. In Fact we De-Listed Jolly because of that Performance but then Grundy in his 2nd Season was In and out of the Side. So what you call that?

I not saying he won't Improve but Teams will have more Info on Him.

Hopefully Moore keeps going from Strength to Strength

Perhaps the more important question is why was Moore retained when White clearly out-performed him?

http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/...d1=1793&tid2=5&pid2=4023&type=A&fid1=S&fid2=S

Maybe the selectors just wanted to put a rocket up White about some issues with his consistency and attack on the footy, while expectation on Moore were so much lower in his first season.

Maybe Stats don't tell the Whole Story. Moore was way more Physical then Jessica White Was. White's Goals where mostly Crumbing Ones or getting the ball after a Drop Mark

So Moore should stay in the VFL until he has a Few 4+ Goals games in a Row?

So jackcass you think Moore is Super Overrated Then?
