The difference between his best and his worst is way too big imo. Both of these aspects were on show yesterday. In my view, Moore is generally not a great defensive defender but can be a very good attacking defender. Frustrates the hell out of me. The defense of all teams including ours requires midfield if not fwd line to apply pressure. This was absent in part of the first, third and final quarter yesterday in the prelim v Brisvegas yesterday.

Kane Cornes rated him number 2 in his list of players considered to be superstars who are not, De Goey number 3. Unfortunately I believe he is correct.

So I’ve been reading that people are suggesting Moore move forward if we can get a better defender in his current spot. I wouldn’t be against this. He could be AA forward and back but alas our key defender list is smaller than the key forwards.

I can seperate Kane and his opinions in this instance. My first thought was that if we had gone for Naughton instead of Stephenson we’d have the top 3 on his list. There is no doubt that DeGoey has not lived up to his hype. Injury has unfairly disrupted his season and much of his career. I don’t think Moore is being played in a position that suits his talents and physique. I would really like May to release Moore from responsibility over the talls. To be honest, I am not sure where he is most likely to realise his potential, but he is not Jack the giant killer.

Moore is an important player in our team. He is also our premiership captain.

The posts above mine were debating DM's status as a superstar. I was giving my opinion like anyone else.

Darcy Moore is a good player, who has mix of great and poor games and moments within games. He is far from a superstar. He has had 2 excellent seasons over his career and one place finish in the Copeland.

His peak is AA in a premiership year not that long ago. He was definitely a superstar then

Moore’s ceiling is at the superstar level. No denial. He has demonstrated this, but not consistently.

I’d love to see him follow key forwards into the ruck when we play teams that use them as stop gap ruckmen. Probably just memories of his old man killing it around the ground

Brilliant defender when our defensive team is working as a unit, and being supported by the midfield. Probably one of the best in the business at running off his man and getting to an aerial contest, where he takes an intercept mark or kills it altogether. Not a very good lock-down defender when he is one out and under pressure.
