Yeah a few good tracks in there, but way too hit and miss for me when compared to either Black Earth or Sunset Mission.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention earlier that this was really ****ing good. Thanks for the reccomendation. Love those Coldworld/Darkspace clips as well.

Listening to this as well.

Some really interesting music.

Yep, this stuff is just awesome when you close your eyes at 1am in the morning. Maybe not so great when you fall asleep and wake up screaming though =D

Funny you should mention this.I haven't been on here for a week or two,and yours was the first post i read today.Last night i had one of those 75% asleep/25% awake nights, and listening to Yen Pox i dreamt i was walking through R'lyeh and all sorts of weird shit happened. It's not often dark ambient invokes those kinds of dreams for me but when it happens it is badass.

I just wanted to say awesome work to the OP for being so informative and putting in so much effort. I haven't really had a chance to listen to much of the clips yet, but most of what I've heard I like and a good half of these bands I didn't previously know about, so cheers!

Dark ambient is one of my favourite genres, I got into it around a dozen years ago when Cold Meat Industry released their 'Even The Wolves' sampler. Even though I've been listening to it for a while, I don't buy stuff very often and I'm still not very knowledgeable on all the bands out there, as this stuff is pretty hard to hunt down.

Some good albums that I'm not sure have been mentioned in this thread:
L.E.A.K - The Old teahouse
BAD SECTOR - Dolmen Factory
TRIBE OF CIRCLE - The Advent Of Redemption
A MURDER OF ANGELS - In the Air

Have you heard any of those Schism...?

No i haven't heard those man, will check them out over the next week or 3.Thanks for that.Dark Ambient is one genre that i can never, ever get enough of.

You're right, alot of this stuff is definitely hard to hunt down.Quite simply, most of it wouldn't be available to most of us without the 'net.Even some of the best dark ambient is limited release stuff that only ever appears in Europe.

The emo's and goths that work at JB usually look at me like i'm crazy when i try to order some of this music.'err we can't get that, sorry'.Heard that a few times.

The Axis Of Perdition deserve their own post. They are a band from England who dabble in a few genres, ranging from dark ambient to dirty, grimy industral death/black metal noise type stuff,to spoken word dark ambient and other stuff. They are pretty full on - these tracks might really turn some people off...see how it goes.I will say,if you don't like one particular part of a song, you won't have to wait long for it to change completely.

They can be as brutal as any metal band on the planet (particularly The Ichneumon Method album) right through to quiet dark ambient poetry.I won't post any of the real brutal stuff, there's a metal thread for that.

The Axis Of Perdition - Pendulum Prey:this track ranges from dark ambient to fuzzy production death/black through to sort of dark jazzy lounge at the end.Clearly the lads are on acid

Entangled In Mannequin Limbs:Sort of dark ambient symphonic black death avante-garde metal with screams and machinery...or something

Reopening Wounds:just dark ambient

There isn't any of their pure dark ambient work on youtube.Their album Urfe is just dark ambient. The whole album is one man retelling a strange story of a journey, with dark ambient soundscapes.Kind of like the spoken word parts of Trists 'Hin'.I recommend it to anyone into DA especially artists like Coph Nia and Sephiroth.

I'm not sure how many people are aware of this but Karl Sanders (vocalist/guitarist from death metal band Nile) has made a couple of dark ambient/neofolk albums.Middle-eastern/egyptian folk is probably more accurate than neofolk

Yeah, it's bullshit.

Managed to obtain some of your recommendations last night though, liked most of what I heard, especially Solitude Aternus.

Was looking forward to getting some more dark ambient tonight, but I'll just have to wait I guess.
