He has a set shot 40 out right in front with three minutes remaining and were down by three points and he F*&king misses.
Then with maybe 30 seconds to go Peter Matera is deep in the pocket he centres the ball with a good kick and who is sitting in front of goal barely 2 metres out...you guessed it, Glass. The ball runs along the ground towards him theres no-one else even near him all he has to do is pick it up and kick a god damn goal!!! But no somehow he fumbles it, it nutmegs him and goes through for a behind!!!!!! GOD DAMN IT! Now we need a miracle against the Dees and Brissy to knock off Freo to finish ahead of them. DAMN YOU GLASS.

Ok Ok sorry just a little dissapointed if Glass happens to read this sorry man. It is a good learning curve for you. But you couldve kicked the goal

How can you blame Darran Glass for the loss yesterday. The simple fact of the matter is that you were 42 points up with less than a half to go and could not hang on. Why not blame the other 18 guys that were out there. The Dockers were more desperate and fitter than your side.
Before you go on about saying your players are underdone, if they are fit enough to run out on the ground then there is no excuses. Personally I though Donnelly would have helped you out there today as he can kick goals and take a mark. Not our problem though and the simple fact is that you will stay behind the Dockers for quite a few years as you go through the rebuilding process.
It will be interesting to see the Eagles home games half-full when they stay where they are on the ladder.

Well, Jod23's comments show how far the mighty have fallen: "we need a miracle against the Dees". The once mighty WCE needing a miracle to win a game at Subiaco!

The Eagles must be nearly the weakest team going around at the moment, they just can't run a game out.

The Eagle era has ended. For some considerable time to come I suspect.

Hey im not blaming it all on Glass, the Eagles never should have let it slip but HE did have two chances very late in the game to push us over the line, but he didnt.

My club is at an interesting time right now, everyone says were gonna be a shit club for the next few years but its hard to look at it that way. We've got plenty of stars ie: Cousins, Jakovich, Wirripunda, Materas, Kempy, Gardiner, Cummings, Banfield. We have some youngster coming through that dont seem to bad and we could get a few really good players in the offseason, maybe Chick or Bell. So i dont think its all lost and if we could get a full side on the field (god forbid!!) i think we can be every bit as good as Richmond or Bullies and be looking at a finals spot again next year. And as for you shockers if results go to plan next week and you do finish above us on the table.... savour it cos it wont last.

Quite right jod23! The Docker fans are going nuts because they won by 1 point, but geeze - it's still 10-2 in our favour, and have they forgotten about the 117 point drubbing we gave them earlier (when we had Wirra, Braun, Scotty)

I really think next year will be make or break for the eagles to set up their short term future - the draft is so important this year for us! 2 more names to watch out for, Darren Gaspar from Richmond - we need another solid defender, and he could join us to play with his brother Damien. Also Troy Carlon from Claremont is a fantastic goalsneak - he averages about 3 goals a game and from what I've heard he's DANGEROUS - like a mini Bewick, remember you heard it first here.

Darren Glass is not a forward. He should not have been playing there in the dying minutes of a close game. I think he's actually touted as the worst kick on goal at the club.
If you're looking for someone to blame, direct your attention towards that big glass box. He insists on moving players out of position, doesn't persevere with certain players, yet leaves others on the ground too long.
The reason we can barely run out a game? We were overtrained pre-season (and that's straight from insiders at the club). While it's obvious that we have a few fading & aging players, as well as a couple with chronic injuries, it's essential that they are well managed. This year they weren't, and half have retired, while the others have either had serious or recurring injuries.
Well done to the Dockers for coming back, but you'd be pretty worried if they didn't wouldn't you?
Will this be yet another turning point in the history of their club?

I have to agree about training to hard in the pre-season and that is also the Dockers. Over the past few years we have failed to run out a season.
Both teams have a critical time coming up in terms of drafting and trading. Last year, the Dockers could not go wrong with the draft but their trading was very good.
This year will be even more important and the Dockers need to look to players who have played around 100 games and abour 23-24 such as Cook. Chick would be a good example as would Darren Gaspar. Gaspar would not help you greatly if you still have Jakovich.
The Dockers will end up in front of the Eagles for the next few years, especially with the retirement of players such as Kemp and Matera. Your drafting has cost you and in two years in particular you really got noone of any substance.
As for being a turing point in the club, it won't be the win but the way we came back which will provide the impetus for next season and a strong pre-season.I for one can't wait for the next Western Derby but if I see anymore biased reporting like in the West today with Dockers players being shown to throw punches I will go apesh*&. Gardiner was the one who came out punching and while we certainly gave it back and then some a more balanced review than the western eagles would be welcomed.

Please let's not go there FreoRules

Gardie responed in the wrong way, and will get time for it, but it's not surprising given they'd been tipped off to expect a "vicious" start. Wouldn't you be a little on edge? He did not start it, just responded wrongly. (And I was sitting right behind them, so please don't say I didn't see what happened)

As for the biased reporting, I don't know that it's fair to say they threw more punches, but they did start the thing. Just ask Clem! (I bet he's been spoken to this week about the difference between private and public). I was pretty dissapointed in Drum when that stuff came out. I realise he's a Vic or something, but he just doesn't seem to 'get' the idea of the Western Derby. The true spirit is now gone

Bring back Neesh and Micky!

Anyway, do you think D Gaspar is a chance to come home? We've already drafted younger brother Trav. Maybe they could get a Longmuir or Voss thing happening. (Conveniently leaving out the other example -Rocca

)

The 'New Start' and 'Turning Point' stuff directed towards the Dockers EVERY time they have a good win is something that really irks me. Most of the time they seem to have been forgotten by the following game. Maybe the media etc could point out defining moments in the Dockers history after they've happened, instead of predicting them all the time! I might start a topic on this in a few days actually, once the study has subsided sufficiently.

Ive been waiting 12 years for a bad bounce in the goal square to cost the coasters a game.
I can still see bloody Laurie Keene kicking long bombs TWICE against the Hawks that somehow took weird bounces over the heads of our backs and then going through for two of the most miraculous goals ive ever seen

I too was at the game and while the Dockers did come out and say that it would be a physical approach does not mean that Gardiner has to come out and start throwing punches. I too think our boys went too hard at the wrong time, eg: Heath Black on Matera but if anything it has made the Western Derby more exciting as both teams used to play hard but was never at the same level as other rivalies. As for Gaspar, I think there would be a chance but could you have Jakovich, Glass and Gaspar in the same side. He would be a great pickup for us as we lack a solid CHB.
I must admit I hate the Eagles as much as anyone but I will say congratulations to McKenna on a great career and he was a true professional and the league could do with more of him.
Eagerly waiting for the next contest but with a finals spot on the line
