Does anyone else not find this laughable?

He sent them a video?
Of what exactly? How high he can jump? A bit of kick to kick?

Puh-lease! These experiments do not work.

There'd be tons of bigfooty posters with far more "football" ability than many guys like this that don't get the opportunity.
It costs us nothing. Who gives a stuff?

Mark Blicavs, a 78kg steeplechaser who hadn't played footy since he was 14.

If Dekka thinks he's worth the free hit then let's take a swing. Crazy not to.
A perfect example there, a player who now has as many club best & fairest awards as Gary Ablett snr. won in his entire career!

I'm all for recruiting likely prospects as Category B Rookies and giving them a go, there's virtually nothing to lose, and there's a chance of picking up a future star for effectively nothing.

Lol. Derek always comes up with interesting hobby projects. But another ruck prospect? That is #4 on the list.

Think he sees him playing a KPP and 2nd Ruck

Apparently he played a high level of junior footy up to about his mid teens before giving it up to play ball

Source, Where you Read That?

Category B rookies can be internationals, alternative pathways (basketball, cricket etc) or prospects who have not been on an AFL list for at least 3 years prior to being rookied.

Eg: Ben Richmond

During the 2012 season we had ...

Darren Jolly
Cameron Wood
Jon Ceglar
Shae McNamara
Lachlan Keeffe (back in the day we thought he could be a ruckman)
Chris Dawes (he was playing pinch hitting ruck)

Then over following years we lost a few and gained a few more (Witts, Grundy, Hudson, Gault, Lynch, White)

If anything, we're a bit short at the moment (see what I did there ;) )

He's Australian. Good that he has prior knowledge to the game
Went to the same high school and was in the same year level as him. Trust me, he has no knowledge of the game. Not trying to be rude, especially as I'm intruding, but as someone who has mutual friends with him and is friends with him on fb, the bloke chose AFL because he wasn't succeeding in basketball in the states. Hasn't touched a footy since he was a young teen and couldn't care less about AFL, just wants to be a professional sports player. Wouldn't get my hopes up if I were a pies fan, unless something has changed in the last few years, then I'm comfortable saying he wont last long at Collingwood.

Can we call him Earpy given we cant pronounce his first name

Being at College might of changed him.

This seems to be consistent with his situation that has been presented.

He's a Category B rookie, so clearly has little knowledge of the game.

Perhaps he's been recruited as a bit of a companion pony ( Saintly Viewed is that what they're called?) to Mason Cox. In 2015 we were a ruckman down on our list compared to previous seasons, so he fills a need as fourth ruckman.
