Who was the better AFL player? Longmire had more games, but Bennett played 159 NFL games after his AFL career. I always thought Bennett was a great AFL player and left our sport pre-maturely. Aside from the number of games, fairly similar stats and both played in the the same era late 80's early 90's

Longmire - games - 200, ave possesions - 11, tackles - 0.6, marks - 4.4, goals - 2.6

Bennett - games - 78, ave possesions - 9, tackles - 0.3, marks - 5.3, goals - 2.8

Longmires best was a long way in front of Bennett's. Bags of 12 and 14 goals compared to Bennett's best return of 8.

Bennett got a lot of injuries towards then end. 92-93 didn't play much senior footy and then retired but man he had a f..king boot on him!

Bennett was a great kick, but hardly a great footballer.

I thought of Longmire as a very good player, just short of the champion category. A great clubman though, gave North very good service whether at FF, FB or in the ruck ; very stiff that he did his knee of the eve of the finals back in 93, and again in 96 (IIRC).
