Had scans this morning, in doubt for this weeks game.
Should NOT have played last week. Was clearly sore from week before and played like it.
Now we are likely to face the 2 best ruckman without him when had he'd been rested he would have been right to go.
Not happy.

:thumbsu: if we think so little of wood we can't bring him in when jolly is injured no point in having him clog the vfl

Well if Jolly does not play I can't see us Beating the Eagles and IF he is gone for the Season I Really Doubt we do much in the Finals

Hoping at worst it is a week and he get's a game back before finals.

Won't be the end of the world in reality. Probably should get a game into Wood before finals anyway. Didn't he play last time we played West Coast?

***F#@K****IT***

Put Cloke in the ruck and let him find out what hard work is.

He's of no benefit at FF so let him chase the ball around the ground.

Leave Dawes at FF with crumbers all around to mop up his spillage. We used to kick more then enough goals throughout the year with our smalls.

Agree put Cloke in the Ruck I reckon he would be Better then Dawes

Don't think we can beat West Coast over there with Cameron Wood.

people - do recall hawthorn won several flags in the 80's with no real ruckman, by using their superior mids to ruck the opposition taps.

you either have a dominant ruck (jolly when fit) or go with essentially nothing.....ie wood.
wood & dawes share the ruck while out 7 deep midfield seek cox/nicnat taps all day.

While Jolly has actually done well in every game against West Coast since he's arrived, I don't actually think his absence would be the difference.

If your mids dominate then the ruckman CAN be irrelevant. It's up to Swan, Pendles, Beams, Thomas, Sidebottom, Wellingham and Blair to rip shit up.

Ruckman play at well less than 100% most weeks. I'm not sure Jolly is the right ruckman for Cox and Natanui on the fast track over there anyway. It's long past time we played Cloke in the Ruck. I also think it is important to give Wood at least 1 more game before the finals. We might need him than and whatever anyone says we don't have another AFL ready ruck option.

If Jolly is not fit enough I'd play Wood, drop Dawes for Paine and use Cloke in the ruck.

I'm not sure taps are the real concern going in without a ruckmen. For me it is the marks and big possesion a ruckmen gets that allow him to influence, or otherwise, a game.
Compare Jolly this week versus the previous 2. He hardly touched the ball, Goldstein got it almost 20 times.
The previous 2 matches Jolly took marks, kicked goals and generally influenced many contests.

Im more concerned with the WCE duo getting about 30 touched in total between them, kicing 3 goals and holding us up by taking marked in our forward fifty. A fit Jolly would be 'feared' to some extent, manned up when going forward, and fill the whole in front of Darling.
Woody will need to play a very good defensive game.
Also agree with other posters, Wood had to get a game under his belt prior to finals. My hunch is he will play the last 2 games.

I reakon I will back our medical team and coaching staff to have made the right decision.

Yep he shouldn't have played.

The priority for Jolly is to maintain his condition, and that meant not playing against North. Sure, we would have been worse off with Wood, but if Jolly was not ready he'd be just as ineffectual (which he was), and even if he wasn't injured, he'd be just as ineffectual against West Coast.

God help us.

A little dramatic mate. I have a feeling that there will be a few twists before this season is over and I for one have not given up hope.

Clearly should not have played last week after the hit he took vs Sydney.

Reeks of poor man management ala Ben Reid / Darren Jolly of late last season.

You would have thought we would have learnt a lesson or tow in that regard.

Obviously not.

hehe yeah, thought it added a nice touch.

But tbh I don't see us beating West Coast. Our midfield has gone to shits, even with a firing Jolly, I don't remember us winning too many clearances against Sydney, but hopefully the injection of Swan helps.

And Wood/Dawes vs Cox/Natanui?

There's no serious other option, but will we win 10 hit outs with the wood/dawes combination

Don't forget we almost beat Geelong in the 2007 prelim with Chris Bryan and Guy Richards as our rucks (of note, Harry Obrien got 4 hit outs in that game!)
