I think part of the issue was probably him being a flog.

Martyn was one of Australia's most under-rated players but I have them as equals.

I know in the modern age theres a need to witter aimlessly on social media, but as the coach he should be better than that.

The problem is that this summer Lehmann has:
1. Attacked a journo not for his article, but for his cricket career
2. Used his career to further his media commentary
3. Used his career to attack the squad formation of a 20/20 franchise, due to the fact that one of this squad's players attacked his players....

Boof also over 100 centuries. 367 list a games. Love him or hate him, he has been a very good Australian cricketer. He has an opinion, like you and I do, so good on him I reckon. KP's always been a big noting stirrer wherever he goes. Hoggy (Rod variety) said the same thing about KP last night on SEN.

Really getting the sense this guy is actually a complete flog. This is on the back of saying he didn't respect someone's opinion because they hadn't played at the highest level... we have papered over the problem with the team with a few cheapie wins against Pakistan but i'm not sold.

No it doesnt make him a media commentator, it makes him the Australian cricket coach making media comments.

As the Aus Coach, he has one of the largest microphones in Aus cricket circles- i.e if he doesnt rate a player, that player gets banished.

Did we ever see Buchanan, Arthur, Simpson taking commentary roles judging Aussie players whilst they were Aus coach?I can't think of any as its a massive COI (hes obliged to take a position on players he may end up coaching).

Coming back to the point I made earlier, whilst societally its acceptable for endless wittering from the masses, its not a good look for the Aus coach to be doing so, whether that be in traditional media or in social media.

Otherwise what standard of leadership is he setting for his guys?

hes not correct. KP is most likely a w***er but he has also been producing with the bat.

He could've made it to 10,000 runs and some if it wasn't for HIS mouth.

He's correct about KP.

When a player takes up such a large chunk of the salary cap you miss out on other players and the team struggles more. Same reason why Chris Gayle's BBL teams have never had any success.

He should have expressed in better terms or not at all though

My feel on this is the competition as a whole is improved with these kind of guys getting behind it. I agree a team can be let down by having to sacrifice so much to bring them in, but CA need to find a way to ensure teams don't stop signing them over it. Maybe offering someone like KP a more lucrative promotion deal so tha that original signing price can be lessened.

...and to all those critiquing his playing career - fair crack of the whip - he was a fantastic player.

That said, I'm sure that when Boof's time is up and JL gets a run as coach that everyone will be taking shots at him too. Tough job really.

KP has had a few blow ups with the aussie team i can only assume it relates to that. Unless KP took a swipe at him in his book?

MJ might have a reason due to their dust up a couple of years back, that is about it.

If boof wasn't so full of crap it would help his case as well. KP 6th most runs, 2nd most for an Int player. Most for Melbourne Stars. Probably top 5 International player of the tournament.
