Darren Pfeiffer (Past Player)

Sneeky feeling this bloke could play a similar role as Damian Hardwick. Port clearly lacks a 'hardman' with the ability to hassle taggers big time and make a few players second guess.

Thoughts on could he spend time at center bounces - clear a path - hammer a few bodies.

Yep, makes a few mistakes - perhaps trying too hard - but his hard running at the ball carrier to force the out of bounds on the full in the that last 2 mins was sensational.

Yes! Dared to leave his man to go up and make the contest and it was every bit as pivotal to us getting the final goal as Jacobs' switch, Chaplin's play on to the centre and Broadbent's attack on the bouncing ball and penetrating kick to Stewart.

I honestly don't think you guys would have won if not for Pfeiffer, his last quarter was unbelievable!! He was like a man possessed out there, winning clearances, using the ball well, slamming his body in, he was on fire and I just hope it gives him the confidence to back it up each and every week.

He’s too good for the SANFL and just needs a bit of time to adapt to the pace of the AFL, even if he is a mature aged recruit, same rule applies.

Go the Pfeif! :thumbsu:

As an occasional lurker on the Crows board I've noticed you've consistently rated this guy over the years Drummond. Let's hope your support will finally be justified!

His last quarter was some of the most pure football you would ever hope to see.. desperation and hunger for the ball and for moving it forward. If I recall correctly his previous best AFL game included a match-winning goal for Carlton in the last quarter- 4th quarter specialist? :p

Come on over Drumm. You know you want to!

He's doing the things that many more in our team should be doing. Team things. One percenters.

****ing up a few disposals and being inconsistent should be forgiveable considering his inexperience.

He doesn't deserve too much leeway - ex-first round pick on his third chance at AFL level - but I'd rather 70% of that than 100% of Dom'12, said the Mattress to Matt Bishop.

Why isn't there a 'Toast: Matthew Broadbent' thread? Pfeiffer's played one good quarter this month. Broadbent's played 4 good games this month and IMO was better in the last quarter than Pfeiffer was.

Second that :thumbsu: 'nuff of this negativity - credit when/where credit's due:)

Will say what i have thought of him since we picked him up

Is our 20-26nd best player, but is a continual tryer, one of the blokes that i want on the field when its pouring down with rain, there is no chance of finals and we're playing a top 4 side.

His skills are iffy but if every player had the endevour of this guy we would be a much better team.

Also he understands what the meaning of 1%er's mean, whats always a bonus (sadly a rarity in our team)

I know Logan wasn't in the side this week but how many genuine triers are there in our side. Thomas is another. His last quarter was great, hopefully we get 4 this week.

Jonts Genuine tryers list

Logan
P Stewart
Brad Ebert
Surjan
Pfieiffer
Thomas
Trengove

Pushing it
Butcher
Schulz
Wingard

If not for his last quarter I would've been calling for him to be dropped, but if not for his last quarter we probably would've lost.

Isn't life delicious sometimes? At the time the below probably just felt like a rhetorical flourish.

Yes it does. Moore and Banner have upside, Thomas and Pfeiffer are proven duds. It might not matter on Saturday, but it matters for the future. To be honest I'd rather lose with Moore and Banner in the side than win with Thomas and Pfeiffer in it. ...

One quarter where he finally lives up to expectations at his third club is hardly worthy of 'toldyasos' just yet.

If he reverts to type against a bunch of kids at Metricon his cards will be as marked as ever.

Some like to think of it as 1 good qtr, others like to think of it as 3 good games...

Do we want to gradually aspire to September and Flags or barely a handful of wins a year?

At Port Adelaide 'a good game' used to mean something entirely different if that's how he's being graded.

It sounds trite and cliche, but I'd like to think we want to be something more than the Washington Generals of this league.

3 good games by what standard?

Are you counting his games for Norwood?

I am 12 years old and what is this?

I wanted to string him up at 3 quarter time but he had a blinder of a last quarter but his mistakes overall costly badly so he probably evened it out a bit. Nowhere toast worthy, 1 good quarter and only saved because we won, still bordering on delisting end of year.

Some like to think of the game against Richmond in which he had ONE kick as a terrible game. And by 'some' I mean 'everyone but you'.

He was OK against Collingwood, he was WOG in the Showdown, WOG against Richmond and was making a fair play for being right up there in WOG reckoning against North until he temporarily saved his career in the last quarter. Still has a long, long way to go. Even guys like Jay Nash played a good quarter or two for us.

I'd like some evidence of this please....

Darren wasn't even close to "WOG" at 3 quarter time.

He played well fellas, accept it.

Just on the topic of Jay Nash, anyone that thinks he didnt do some very, very nice things for us towards the end of 2010 obviously tuned out of our games. "List clogger" or not, him being delisted and Meyer retained was a joke.
