That’s true, but for the biggest races it’s almost beyond dumb to go down that path.
Way too much scrutiny and once at the biggest stage you may as well go for best result.
Then again some cheats are mega dumb greedy or too blinkered.

If you've got something you use that you know is undetectable and you've used it plenty of times without being detected then it doesn't really matter what the race is. In any other sport when the stakes go up, the doping increases to get that little edge that pushes you to the top, would be naive to think otherwise in horse racing IMO.

doping and race fixing you would suspect is more about betting than prize money. given the people bearing the risk associated with the fixing or doping ordinarily aren't owners.

the bottom line with punting is that over the long run if you can place bets at a price that yields a return greater than the true odds, you will make a lot of money.

That is jigger training to a tee.

They would of done that on a treadmill with blinkers on the horse so the horse cannot see a human doing it. Then when they blast him with voltage from a jigger they slap his neck at the same time or just before.

Next run the horse is slapped with the same motion that he copped on the treadmill only days before and thinks he is about to be slammed with Volts again and runs his arse off!

Horses are not stupid and remember what hurts them.

In other words if you cop a slap the volts are about to come and the horse effectively ran in fear of being electrocuted down the straight for home.
I find this quite disturbing and beyond being defended

Its ugly animal cruelty and the canpiagner Weir gets everything owing to him.

Great training effort by Weir. There’s no doubt that the owners would have been happy with him.
